2 GNS-XLS SOFTWARE UPGRADE PRICE TO REMAIN SAME FOR 2009 Business & General Aviation One Technology Center West 105 th Street Olathe, KS Introduction The latest TSO certified GNS-XLS software upgrades for P-RNAV compliance, FAA AC A compliance and a 20MB memory upgrade to the new worldwide navigation database continue to be available at 2007 prices. This upgrade is designed to extend the life of the GNS-XLS to meet new operational standards in Europe and the United States. The features of the upgrade are: Precision Area Navigation (P-RNAV) compliance to allow certification under the Eurocontrol s Technical Guidance Leaflet (TGL) -10. o Includes full ARINC leg procedures for all phases of flight no more discontinuity between which part the FMS handles and which it does not. o Selected cross track for mulitple waypoints vs. single active waypoint Advisory Circular compliance to meet the new FAA AC concerning terminal navigation (RNAV) procedures. o Similar to above additions 20 MB memory expansion to allow for worldwide navigation database installation o Includes additional approaches that were screened from previous databases due to memory limitation teardrop procedures, all ILS, LOC, etc., puts them on the MFD o Adds automation to the missed approach procedure which was previously flown manually o Web-based downloads of navigation database with user name / password 2. Program Description 2.1 Software Upgrade Features Precision Area Navigation Precision Area Navigation (P-RNAV) is a continuance of Required Navigation Performance (RNP) evolution in Europe from Basic Area Navigation (B-RNAV) or RNP 5 to RNP 1. P-RNAV is achieved via a software change enabling compliance with TGL-10 with addition of ARINC-424 procedural leg types and compliance with DO-200A navigation database procedures. This is a software-only upgrade and will be one part of a single software upgrade package and part number change combining the above three features. While not a full mandate, PRNAV is quickly becoming a requirement in Europe as access to airspace for non-compliant aircraft becomes more restrictive. Advantages are quickly realized by no-hold times, more efficient routing allowing for quicker en route Page 2 of 6
3 times. It is not clear if P-RNAV will become a full mandate in Europe but with the continuing addition of terminal airspace requiring P-RNAV compliance, the addition to the GNS-XLS is a key new feature Advisory Circular A Compliance to Advisory Circular A is also achieved with this update. AC A is an FAA document titled US Terminal and En Route Area Navigation (RNAV) Operations. Aircraft compliance to AC A enables acceptance of the new RNP SID / STAR procedures. As more of these types of terminal procedures are developed and deployed, this feature, like P-RNAV, becomes invaluable to the operator flying in tightly controlled airspace Megabyte Memory Expansion The new 20 MB memory upgrade to the GNS-XLS is also part of this upgrade package. The new software enables access of a new 20 MB PCMCIA memory card containing the 28-day Worldwide Navigational Database (NDB). This database supersedes the multiple regional databases currently used by the GNS-XLS and will allow the operator to load one database regardless of where the aircraft travels in the world. 2.2 Software Upgrade Kit Number The software kit numbers for this upgrade are as follows: Description Dash Number Change Kit Part Number GNS-XLS Enhanced to GNS-XLS to GNS-XL to Table GNS-X and CDU-XLS Upgrade Path The Honeywell GNS-X and CDU-XLS have been evaluated as candidates for the PRNAV software upgrade and it has been determined that due to memory limitations, they cannot accept the new software load at this time. If desired, operators of GNS-X and CDU-XLS can upgrade to a new GNS- XLS or GNS-XLS Enhanced with the new software included with the purchase at no additional charge. Also, any operator that purchased a new GNS-XLS or GNS-XLS Enhanced in 2006 or 2007 is entitled to a no-charge software upgrade kit (either or ). To claim the upgrade, they will need to provide the GNS-XLS purchase order number when ordering the kit. 2.4 Loading of the Software Upgrade Loading of the new GNS-XLS software will be accomplished via installation of a PCMCIA card to transfer the new software version and can be done on-aircraft. The part number (dash number) of the GNS-XLS will change due to a new TSO certification and the part number plate on the unit must be modified. Honeywell will supply the PCMCIA card and plate to the dealer / installer as part of the upgrade kit. This Honeywell-supplied kit will be the only method in which to upgrade the GNS-XLS. Page 3 of 6

Promotional List $22,931 $10,000 Table GNS-XLS Navigation Database Pricing The new Worldwide Navigation Database for GNS-XLS will be available from Honeywell upon certification of the GNS-XLS software upgrade kit. This new global database will be certified to the latest DO-200A standards and will contain all the customary data from Jeppson with airports and runways to 1,000 feet or greater along with the new leg types and procedures associated with AC A and PRNAV. Annual subscription prices from Honeywell will be: New GNS-XLS(E), XLS and XL Worldwide Navigation Database $3,200 per year 4. Ordering Information IMPORTANT NOTE: Once the software for this upgrade is loaded into the GNS-XLS, a new worldwide navigation database is required to re-enable the unit. The old regional navigation database will not work. It is important that the dealer / installer not load the new GNS-XLS software upgrade until a new worldwide navigation database PCMCIA card has been received from Honeywell Navigation Database Services. Once the software for the upgrade has been loaded, the installer will remove that PCMCIA card and insert the worldwide navigation database PCMCIA card. The worldwide navigation database card must remain in the GNS-XLS during the 28-day cycle until the next card is received from Honeywell per the operator s NDB subscription account.
