Training Module for Business Process Management
Topics Covered Topics covered: QoS Partitions QoS Services Service Level Agreements With Qos Without Qos Packages Price Plan Setup
QoS Partitions QoS Partitions manages bandwidth for a traffic class Controls network congestion Minimizes traffic latency Improves application response times Guarantees dedicated bandwidth for key applications and users Deliver different services and network performance to different customer segments Gain flexibility in creating product pricing plans. Allow the system to apply different treatment strategies to different flows A single subscriber can simultaneously use different applications with different QoS rating Information related to partitions are sent to PSC during initialization
QoS Architecture Advantages of the QoS architecture: Strict Priority Schemes Partition Based Queuing Custom Queuing Mechanisms Based on IP address & Application Port
QoS Partition - Setup Select Setup & Customization > WISP > QoS Partitions to create partitions The WISP Selection window is displayed, if any WISP is not selected Enter relevant values and click Save to view Setup Partitions windows Existing partitions can be Modified / Split / Merged
QoS Partitions - Modify Select Setup & Customization > WISP > QoS Partitions to modify partitions Click the modify icon Enter relevant values Click Save to modify partitions
QoS Partitions (Continued) Bounded?: Yes No A partition cannot borrow from any other partition. It is restricted by the bandwidth allotted to it. Non Critical Users (Drinking Fountain Model) Example: Cities/Municipalities would want to restrict the bandwidth access to the non-critical users e.g., constituents using the network based on a Drinking Fountain Model and would not want to allow them to borrow bandwidth from other partitions. In such cases, a bounded bandwidth partition can be used. A partition can borrow from other partitions, subject to availability Public Safety, Fire Department Employees Example: Cities/Municipalities would want to provide these bandwidth partition settings to the public safety/other critical employees of the city who shall be capable of borrowing from other partitions on a need basis.
QoS Partitions (Continued) Shared?: Yes (Shared) Partition allows other partitions to borrow from it. Avoids wastage of the bandwidth during demand Example: Cities/Municipalities would want to provide these bandwidth partition settings to the premium users of the city such as the Government employees. No (Isolated) Partition does not allow other partitions to borrow Results in wastage of bandwidth during demand Example: Cities/Municipalities would want to provide these settings to the free users
QoS Partitions - Split SPLIT - Splits an exiting partition, where the bounded and shared values can be changed for the new partition Select Setup & Customization > WISP > QoS Partitions to split partitions Click the Split icon Enter relevant values Click Split & Save to split partitions
QoS Partitions - Merged Merged - Merges an existing partition with other partitions Select Setup & Customization > WISP > QoS Partitions to merge partitions Click the Merge icon Enter relevant values Click Merge & Save to merge partitions
QoS Services Services like HTTP, FTP, VOIP can avail varied network performance depending on the customer segments Different SLAs can be associated to different services Single SLA can be associated to more than one service At least ONE service should defined for a WISP Select Service Management > QoS Services to view the QoS Setup Service window Enter relevant details Click Add to create a QoS Service
Service Level Agreement SLA is an agreement, established based on bandwidth usage. This feature is a.k.a., Bandwidth Throttling. Provides an option to specify the preferred bandwidth to Walled garden sites Premium users are provided with higher bandwidths Segregates the virus infected clients and places them on a very low bandwidth. SLA details are captured during PSC Configuration in the OSS SLA details essential for initialization are sent to the PSC By default the following three SLA files are sent as part of Initialization files to the PSC Virus Infected Unauthenticated Clients Access Control Lists Whitelisted Sites are
SLA - Setup SLA can be setup in two ways With QoS Without QoS Select Service Management > SLA to add a SLA Click Setup SLA to view the Setup Service Level Agreement window
SLA Setup with QoS Enter relevant values Partitions created earlier are available in the Partition Name drop-box Enable the QoS Applies option Click Add to view the Setup Quality of Service window
SLA Setup with QoS (Continued) Enter relevant values QoS Services created earlier are available in the Service Name drop-box Click Add to add the QOS to the List of QOS Added section Click Save to successfully create a SLA with QoS Service
SLA Setup without QoS Enter relevant values Partitions created earlier are available in the Partition Name drop-box Disable the QoS Applies option Click Add to successfully add the SLA without QoS Service
Packages & Price Plans
Packages Packages are granular units of a price plan A price plan can comprise of many packages A package should have at least one package fee or one service rate A package fee is a standard fee that has no measurement unit A service rate is measured with an activity unit Service rates can be qualified as Peak/Off Peak services based on the time of usage Package fees can be qualified as recurring or one-time charges Packages created with roaming facility Internal roaming allows multi-wisp or inter-wisp roaming External Roaming supports bilateral Wi-Fi roaming
Package Define Package Select Service Management > Packages to define a package Click Add Package to view the Add Package Details window

Default server contains the normal Private IP addresses used by all the subscribers Second server contains a pool of Public IP addresses. During login, Subscriber requests for a public IP PSC routes this request to the second DHCP server, which serves a Public IP address. This address is removed once the user logs out [OR] Does not login within a set duration Public IP address support is linked to a price plan
