5 Document No.: R62003.R03 Page 5 of Introduction As part of Panasonic s continuing process improvement, we have been using a common bar code on incoming parts shipments. As a supplier, you are being asked to provide bar coded labels in Panasonic s format on all incoming shipments. The Panasonic Barcode Label Guideline will show the data fields required for the Panasonic label and the order in which they are required. This guideline should be kept in a file or binder along with a copy of the barcode label guideline. It should be accessible to all staff that is involved in printing, applying, quality checking and supporting the system that produces the labels. The barcode should have the required fields as listed below. The format of the barcode can be altered as long as Panasonic agrees. This is a revision to the current Barcode spec that you might have. You need to re-issue us samples of this new format. The major changes is we added Manufactured Date and Lot Number to this format.

6 Document No.: R62003.R03 Page 6 of Label Guidelines Before you may start using bar-coded shipping labels, Panasonic must approve a representative sample of your label. Panasonic will require at least one label to be attached on all containers shipped into the facility. Panasonic will require only 1 label per container. All suppliers will be required to procure all necessary equipment in order to properly create the label. The timings will be communicated after each supplier has been certified for the 830, 850 and 856 EDI transactions and has sent a sample label that meets all Panasonic requirements. Panasonic will transmit the order-data including all fields necessary to print an label via the 850 transaction (EDI). The system used for the receipt of the Panasonic order (850 transactions) should be integrated with the system used for the creation of the label. The integration of the two systems will eliminate countless key-punch errors. In the event that the EDI 850 transaction fails, the supplier should be prepared to create the label within their system, manually, based upon faxed information. The label standards require that labels must be white in color, with black printing. Suppliers using dots or stickers must ensure that all data and bar codes are not covered. The supplier is responsible for assuring that labels are affixed and protected in such a manner that the label is present, wrinkle-free, and readable upon arrival at each facility. Panasonic recommends that suppliers print labels on card stock.

The quality of the printed barcode symbol is a critical factor in the success or failure of the automatic identification system. No-reads, low first-reads, and substitution errors are most commonly the results of poorly produced barcode symbols. Shipping labels often are subjected to harsh environmental conditions that result in a degradation in the barcodes ability to be scanned. Your quality control program should include barcode labels in addition to the physical product. Systems success can and should be as beneficial to you as it is to your customer(s). 8.1 All suppliers must submit a Barcode Label that conforms to Panasonic

18 Document No.: R62003.R03 Page 18 of 19 Automotive Systems Company of America specifications for verification and test. 8.2 Barcode label testing is usually completed within 48 hours after receipt. If your barcode labels pass all tests, you will be issued a certification by fax or . If your submittal fails any of the testing, you will be advised by phone or what portion(s) of the test your label failed. 8.3 After testing has been completed, the supplier remains responsible for adhering to Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America specifications. Label received at any Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America facility after the certification process is completed that cannot be scanned, will be reviewed to determine if re-certification is required. 8.4 Labels must be tested from every supplier location, which Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America is receiving parts. NOTE: If you change printers, then the labels from the new printer should be tested and certified by Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America. 8.5 When submitting Barcode Label for certification, please make a copy and complete the Barcode Label Test Submittal form.
