6 A H A C C O U N T I N G & T R A I N I N G S E R V I C E S P a g e 6 Information about Certificate in MYOB AccountRight Premier & MYOB Packages MYOB AccounRight Premier is the most comprehensive, commonly used and complete accounting software currently in the market. Latest version MYOB has the following packages: *MYOB Essential MYOB AccountRight Standard MYOB AccountRight Plus MYOB AccountRight Premier *MYOB Essential is a bit different and only available online whereas the other three are very similar in terms of functions and interface and are also available as desktop and online but has different capabilities. MYOB Essential has fully functional built-in payroll and is designed for businesses with no inventory needs. MYOB AccountRight standard, plus and premier are designed for both service and retail based businesses with inventory management and separate payroll. The reason I am teaching MYOB premier is that if you learn the premier version then you can apply your skills to the standard and plus versions too so instead of studying all three of them you just learn the highest version and apply your skills to the other two saving you lots of time and money. For learning MYOB Essential and MYOB Payroll, you need to enrol for those courses separately, you will find them in my course catalogue. The certificate in MYOB AccountRight Premier video tutorial series organised in 8 chapters of short to semi-long step by step video tutorials accompanied with 8 chapters of detailed reading teaching you how to use MYOB AccountRight Premier from the very beginning right to the end to help you not just achieve your certificate but become a confident MYOB users in just four weeks. Both videos and reading chapters walks you step by step through to the software and follow practical real business example and transactions to teach you MYOB AccountRight Premier in an interactive, integrated and holistic manner so that you can relate your software training to the real business situation and therefore be able to handle most of the accounting and business scenarios in your own business or workplace in the real business setting or environment after you finished training.
7 A H A C C O U N T I N G & T R A I N I N G S E R V I C E S P a g e 7 Teaching Method Unlike other training providers, I don t believe in teaching in isolation, use of random and unrelated examples and more importantly, I don t make unnecessary and dangerous assumptions about my learners. Instead I endeavour to deliver my teaching in a holistic, integrated, interactive and enjoyable manner and the only assumption I make when I am teaching is that my learners don t know anything about accounting, business or MYOB software and they are here to learn everything from the beginning. This way I can deliver my teaching from the learners perspectives and ensure that learners abilities are matched with the required training contents, tools, support and delivery pace. Because learners ability to learn, learning style, level of knowledge and experiences are unique and different, I work with my learners on a one-to-one basis and deliver customised and tailor-made lessons to meet his/her unique learning needs. Importance of knowledge of basic accounting principles Based on my continuous research, experienced and feedback from my learners, having basic knowledge of accounting principles is absolutely crucial and a must have skills in order to use MYOB or any other accounting software in an efficient, effective and correct manner. For this this very reason, I teach all of my learners both accounting and MYOB as an integrated course not just MYOB. Having said that, you don t have to have any accounting qualification or experience to enrol in this course. You will learn both accounting and MYOB together as one course. You see not all accounting software trainers are necessarily accountant or have the necessary and in-depth accounting knowledge and hence they teach the software in isolation using random examples in one day lecture format where you have no chance to practice the software let alone learn it. Accounting software are designed by expert Accountants and are used to automate complex and long accounting and business transactions in a short amount of time behind the scene where you as the user of the software will not see what processes the computer takes to account for thousands of accounting transactions and create multiple journal and ledger entries and produce more than 250 accounting and management reports in a very short period of time. No matter how well you learn the software but if you don t know what the software does to your transactions behind the scene or how a particular accounting journal or ledger entry affects your account then your account never balance and you won t be able to take corrective action when required. Having the basic accounting knowledge will enables you to process complex accounting and business transactions in MYOB in a short amount of time and get it right every time. It will also help you to manage your business and personal finance better and get the best value for your money by making informed decision.
8 A H A C C O U N T I N G & T R A I N I N G S E R V I C E S P a g e 8 My commitment to you As your course Teacher, I will do my absolute best to provide you with quality, interactive, affordable and enjoyable training as well as all the necessary teaching materials including software for your practice, personal support via , phone, and remote control software and in person consultation if you are in Hamilton. However, as your teacher I can only do so many things in my power but to achieve your goals I need your commitment and cooperation too. Since I started teaching, I always put 100% as I believe in education and empowerment of my student through quality education. Education has transformed my life and therefore I have particular passion in education beyond financial incentive. Financial incentives are not my primary goals in my education business however empowering my business clients and individual learners as well acquiring new knowledge and ultimately sharing my knowledge with others are. Your commitment and cooperation Teaching and learning is a two-way-street thus requiring both instructor and leaners commitment and cooperation to achieve the best outcome. Because the course is designed in an interactive and integrated manner, it is essential for you as a learner to commit yourself in learning, carry out all tasks relating to this course. All of my accounting and software training courses are highly practical and hence requires you to do lots of practice. It is said that practice makes perfect and that is very true in this course. Where to start in this course When you are studying for this course, make sure you choose a quiet study place. Take regular break so that you don t get tired or board. Try not to do everything at once. Do it slowly and try to understand the logic behind it. Start this course by using this approach: First-read the accounting for beginner material and make sure you understand most of it. Your understanding of accounting material will determine how well you can use the MYOB Software and use it in a very efficient and effective manner. This is especially important for people with no previous knowledge of accounting. You have to carefully read this material even if you have previous accounting knowledge. Second-Read the entire course hand-out to familiarise yourself with the some of the terminologies and company information. Company information and course materials will be all in the course hand-out file. You need to print this information before you can start your course. THE COMPANY INFORMATION SECTION INCUDES THE FOLLOWING: Basic company information Company financial information Accounts opening balances The required chart of accounts
9 A H A C C O U N T I N G & T R A I N I N G S E R V I C E S P a g e 9 Customer information including opening balances Supplier information including opening balances Inventory table and opening balances Transaction list for all exercises Link for downloading the software Third-start your lesson by watching the videos lectures step by step from chapter one to eight. Videos are great tools to see things in action. You get to see how each functions in various parts of MYOB Software works. You tend to quickly memorise the windows and functions and recall things from your memory when are in that particular part of the software. Videos lectures are great learning methodologies that help you learn things by visual aid. Watch the entire MYOB Step By Step video lectures right from the beginning throughout the end and use the materials provided to complete tasks on MYOB. Make sure you check your answer with the video every time before you move on to the next task. Also make sure you produce all of the end of month/year reports and compare your answer with the answers provided on the answer file. Once you finished watching the entire eight chapter videos using MYOB Software for the first time, create another file for the second time and this time change the business name to Jalal Bike Shop 2 but everything else would be the same. Use the same information from the company information file from the beginning to the end for the second time. It is recommended to read the course material and carry out all tasks on MYOB at least three times in order to transfer the learning from the hand-outs and video lectures to your memory. Don t take any short cuts for the first and second time. Try to use the video less for the third time only refer to the video lectures if you need to. This way you try to do it without following the video lectures and you are forced to think carefully every time you enter information in MYOB. Just remember that practice makes perfect. You can create as many company file as you want to continue practicing. Just change the company name each time you create a new company file but use Jalal Bike Shop exercise from the book.
