You must excel academically, exhibit leadership, participate in community service, and have financial need. Apply online at Deadline: January 9, Regents Scholarship. For students who have taken a specific program of study with no grade lower than C in core subjects and have taken the ACT. Must be used at a Utah public or private non- for- profit college or university. For more details and application forms, see Priority deadline: December 19, Final deadline: Feb. 2, ACLU Youth Activist Scholarship. For students who have stood up for civil liberties and human rights. More information and application forms are available online at Deadline: January 12, Gates Millennium Scholarship Program For ethnic minority students with 3.30 or higher GPA, demonstrated leadership abilities, and financial need. This scholarship will pay for all college costs for up to 5 years. All forms are available online at Allow plenty of time to complete all forms. Deadline: January 14, SAE Engineering Scholarships. For students planning to major in certain engineering fields. A variety of scholarships are available with different eligibility requirements. Apply online at Support/Insurance- and- Financial- Information. Scroll down to Financial Resources and then to Scholarship Program. Deadline: January 15, NIAAA Student Athlete Scholarship. Applicants must have strong academic qualifications and must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport and received a varsity letter in each of two sports. Deadline: February 1, *University of Utah Steve & Angie Smith Young Alumni Scholarship. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, be a first- generation college student or represent at- risk and underrepresented student populations, have financial need, enhance the diversity of the studentbody at the U of U, and not be a current recipient of an athletic scholarship at the U. Must also be able to attend an awards banquet on April 8. Paper applications available in the Career Center. All applications must be received in the Alumni House Office by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on February 2, *Women s Italian American Civic League Scholarship. Applicants (male or female) must be of Italian ancestry and a 2015 high school graduate. Selection is based upon ACT score (40%), high school achievements (40%) and extracurricular school, church or community service (20%). Paper applications available in the Career Center. Deadline: February 11, *University of Utah Larry H & Gail Miller Enrichment Scholarship. For students with demonstrated financial need, with an emphasis on under- represented and/or first- generation college students. Deadline: February 13, *George Hansen Fellowship in Geological Sciences. For incoming freshmen at BYU who enroll as Geology or Earth and Space Science Education majors. For students planning to enroll as Pre- Art majors. Must submit a Departmental Scholarship Application, downloadable from financialaid.utah.edu/scholarships/freshman- general- scholarships.php. Applicants must be admitted to the university by March 1. Deadlines: Departmental Scholarship Application due March 1. Portfolio must be submitted in person on Monday, March 9, 2015 South High Alumni Association Scholarship. Available to students who are direct descendents of a South High School alumnus. Must be used at SLCC. Applications available online at (look under SLCC Scholarships and Tuition Waivers in lower left corner of page). Deadline: March 2, Hamilton Award. Available only to juniors who have talent, ambition, and financial need. Recipients will participate in a 3- year program supporting them in leadership, college

Deadline: March 4, Teacher Recruitment Scholarship for Diverse Students. This program provides financial and academic mentoring support for diverse students who want to become teachers in Wasatch Front schools. Recipients begin their postsecondary education at SLCC to earn an Associate degree in Education, then transfer to the University of Utah to complete a Bachelor s degree in Teacher Education. At SLCC, students will receive approximately $4,000 per year. After transferring to the University of Utah, they may be eligible for approximately $5,000 per year through internships and scholarships for the remaining two years. This scholarship can be used at any accredited college or university within Utah or any LDS Church college. No specific major is required. Two types of scholarships are offered: one is based on financial need and the other is based on community service (you may only apply for one type). 5 SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: Are you interested in a Study Abroad program (during high school) but don t have the $$$ to pay for it? Consider one of the following programs which have full scholarships available to eligible students. For brochures with more information, see Mrs. Townsend in the Counseling Center. The Kennedy- Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Abroad (YES) program. This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and provides exchange opportunities for American students to live and study in countries with significant Muslim populations for one academic year. Countries include Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Philippines, Turkey, Thailand, South Africa, and others. 65 full scholarships are available. The Congress- Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) program. This program also lasts one academic year and is sponsored by the US State Department. Students in the CBYX program study and live with host families in Germany. No previous German language training is required. Admission to this program requires at least a 3.0 GPA. 250 full scholarships are available.
