1 Technical Specificion Group Services and System Aspects Meeting #15, Cheju Island, Korea, March 2002 TSGS#15(02)0182 Source: Title: Document for: Agenda Item: 8.6 MCC Promotion of specs to Rel-5 approval Table 1 shows the current list of specificions which have versions in Release 4 and / or Release 5. The list is ordered by Working Group responsibility, and shows the lest available version in each of those Releases. A blank in a Release column indices th although it is envisaged th the specificion will exist in th Release, as yet there is no available draft. The letter Y in the Rel-4 and Rel-5 columns indices th the spec exists in th Release. The letter w in the Rel-4 and Rel-5 columns indices th the spec has been withdrawn / stopped in th Release. The TSG / WG Officials are requested to examine this table carefully, and to feed back any additional promotions to Rel-5, together with the (projected) freeze de (see 3GPP TR ). Chairmen are reminded th, under the current regime, to be valid for a given Release, a specificion must exist in the corresponding version. Th is, to be valid for Release 5, a version 5.y.z of the spec must exist, even if th version is technically identical to the version 4 pertaining to the previous Release. Attention is drawn to the introduction to the References clause in the 3GPP TS (and TR) skeleton document, which contains the following text: For a non-specific reference, the lest version applies. In the case of a reference to a 3GPP document (including a GSM document), a non-specific reference implicitly refers to the lest version of th document in the same Release as the present document. Any specs which are not promoted are therefore not valid in the new Release, and references to them from all other specs in Release 5 must be removed; beware th this is seldom a simple editorial exercise, and will generally require CRs to referencing specs. Note: This table is correct as :53 GMT. It does not reflect the (anticiped) decisions of WGs SA2 or SA3. Neither does it reflect the decisions of TSG GERAN, which are anticiped for meeting no. 9.
