5 Limited Edition Tee Shirt The Union Historical Fire Society is selling the to Union Historical Fire Society, Tee Shirt Macungie Fire Company No. 1 Combinination Chemical and Ladder Truck At a meeting held on May 6, 1908, the apparatus committee recommended purchase of a new combination chemical and ladder truck, such as they thought was most suitable for this place. The cost would be $1,450, with Council contributing $1,000, and the Fire Company $450. The new apparatus was ordered from the American LaFrance Fire Engine Company; and in September, the new Chemical had arrived. The decision was made to test the new apparatus with two horses hooked to it and run at a rate not faster than men can run, and nobody on except the driver, unless otherwise cal. C. O. Shimer offered the use of his two black horses to pull the new equipment. Milton H. N. Ritter was requested to order photo postcards of the new apparatus to sell at the dedication affair, and it was decided that the hose cart be varnished and supplied with a new gong by the Jonas W. Gerhard Carriage Works.
