Practically speaking, we do biblical counseling, mentoring and training. We cultivate vital skills and practices necessary for relating well to God and people throughout life s challenges. 4 SoulCare d d d Core Concepts in Biblical Mentoring: Anyone who is in a leadership position in a local church or parachurch, whether large or small, this class is for you. Foundational training for those who want to become more effective in ministry within their local churches and community, and care for others at a heart level. Core is a semester-long caregiver training program for both professional and lay Christian leaders. The training will enhance current ministry, but also help leaders think through the ability to expand the care giving aspects of church ministry without expending greater amounts of time, money and energy outside the local area. If you are pursuing a ministry in counseling or social work degrees you would greatly benefit from the opportunity to move beyond the eclectic or secular training and see how a particular model of counseling, Biblically-based, is developed and implemented. We believe that there are vast numbers of caring people who have tremendous potential to encourage strugglers on to God s highest purposes for their lives. For this potential to be realized, these caregivers need learning opportunities, equipping, and active feedback; exactly what we seek to do through Core Concepts. A Theoretical Framework in Biblical Mentoring A Biblical and theoretical model of understanding people that explores the nature of our problems, provides solutions that promote deepened repentance and leads to spiritual growth as people live by Biblical design. Storytelling A model of Biblical mentoring utilizing personal storytelling as a powerful means of moving into a mentoring relationship. Also presented is how this brings substantial help and deepens connection and transformation in community. Interactive small group format will be utilized in second half of the course. Fall Semester: (16-week course) Spring Semester: (16-week course) Spiritual Formation Workshop Spiritual Formation is the restoration of God s image within us. It is a vital, multi-faceted process which goes deeper than typical Christian discipleship programs. It s not just more information; it s about transformation of our character and developing intimacy of relationship with God. It helps us integrate our fragmented intellect, emotions, will, conscience, desires and imagination. We offer two separate curriculums on a rotating basis. The Deeper In Christ Workshop helps re-awaken your desire for greater Christ-likeness, sharpens your awareness of God s presence and promotes obedience to God through desire and delight rather than duty and pressured obedience. The Soul Restoration Workshop is a journey into God s slow, steady, meticulous and mysterious interventions which save us from ourselves and empower us to live-into heart level character transformations. Both workshops are grace-oriented and focus on God s wild, extravagant, unconditional love for us as characters in the redemptive story He is writing with our lives. 5 Courageous Parenting This class is a must for every parent who desires to be wise and godly in raising children, and for every pastor who longs to help parents in their Godordained role and responsibility. This is a training course designed for parents of kids ten to twenty years old. Based on biblical principles, the course helps parents to develop deeper levels of influence (not control) through love and discipline fleshed out. The goal is to promote godliness in the hearts of their kids. The course focuses first on what wise parents need to understand about entering their kids hearts, not merely on changing their behaviors. Second, the course focuses on what maturing parents need to do in terms of communicating love and discipline to their kids. Fall Semester: 12-week course Spring Semester: 12-week course d d d Courageous Parenting Seminar A one-day seminar for parents and youth workers of adolescents exploring the content of the Courageous Parenting workbook. The seminar is designed to creatively think through a Biblical model of influence in the life of their teen. Please check our website at for current class dates, times and locations.

6 d d d The staff at Genesis Institute serve Jesus Christ as helping professionals, endeavoring to assist people in understanding and living out God s design for their lives. Genesis Institute counseling staff are Licensed Mental Health Counselors or Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associates in the State of Washington. We are trained to provide counseling for a variety of situations, which are non-medical in nature. Individual, Family and Adolescent Biblical counseling. Men s and Women s issues. Pre-Marital and Marital counseling. Past sexual abuse recovery for Men and Women. We use a unique counseling model: As Christians, we know that the Bible provides the foundation and framework for thinking through interpersonal problems and solutions, and for helping people live by design. God pursues man s soul through his Word and through people. Our biblical counseling model seeks to pursue the human soul as well.

Payment in full is expected by the fourth class unless other arrangements have been made. Installment Plan: Under the installment plan, a student can make three equal payments of their total bill. The first installment would accompany the enrollment and serve as down payment. Then the student will be billed for the final two payments in the two months following enrollment. By taking advantage of the Installment Plan, the student agrees to the following: The balance of the account will be paid in monthly installments Payments will be made by the date indicated on the monthly statement Should the student quit his or her studies, the student will still pay off the account Refund Policy: Withdrawal through third week of course full refund Withdrawal after third week no refund Payment: Payment can be made with cash, check, credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover) or money order. For clients without insurance coverage, an affordable sliding-fee scale is available as openings permit. *Certificate of Completion This certificate will signify that the student completed the course satisfactorily, with regular attendance and active participation. *College Credit Is available for the Core Concepts: Theory (fall semester course) Core Concepts: Storytelling (spring semester course) in conjunction with Moody Bible Institute-Spokane. We offer the Core Concepts in Biblical Mentoring series as two 3-credit semester-long classes. Fall semester is the Theory class and Spring semester is the Storytelling class. Those who are a part of the Genesis Institute Core Concepts classes can earn college credit in Intro to Biblical Counseling from Moody Bible Institute in Spokane by enrolling in the college option and doing the extra required coursework. The course provides the context for any active participant to not only learn deep insights into themselves, others, and the Bible, but also to grow in their ability to help others and to therefore better fulfill scripture s command to bear one another s burdens.
