4 3 Service characteristics The Leased Line offers a fixed and dedicated connection through the tele-network 24 hours a day and gives a connection with a high degree of data security and high transmission quality. A digital connection is set up directly between two defined connection points and a fixed link is established between these. Broadnet s Leased Line is realized as a digital connection in a SDH-network. The product is based on international standards for attachment of the Customer s equipment, and will therefore function optimally together with data equipment from most providers. Broadnet s Leased Line is mainly based on fiber-optical networks with a circle structure. This ensures that in case of breaks or errors alternative communication paths are often found. However, this does not apply for the access connection (the access from the trunk network to the Customer s address). The product is suitable for enterprises with continuous, large transmission needs between two given attachment points and particularly for applications that require timely transmissions, e.g. for multimedia solutions (speech, video and data). The product is delivered with different standardized interfaces and transmission velocities and forms the basis for other communications services as for example Frame Relay, ATM and Internet Fixed Access. 4 Technical description 4.1 Connection and delivery The Customer connection point (CP) will be an electric contact point (DDF) or an optical contact point (ODF). At CP Broadnet may have placed electronic equipment, or Leased Line may be remote-fed from equipment placed in another location. Connection to the nearest node in Broadnet s fiber-optical trunk network is done via an access connection from the Customer s premises. The access connections are administered by Broadnet, even if these in some cases may be delivered by other access providers. Broadnet marks each CP with connection number, before notice of completion. Contact point for the Customer s equipment send (named TX ) and receive (named RX ) shall emerge from the labeling Testing and measuring of connection is done according to Broadnet s current routines at any time. Broadnet carries out a functionality test of the connection before notice of completion. The Customer must always carry out an acceptance test for himself as soon as possible after Broadnet s notice of completion. Broadnet normally does not test the connection over a longer period. If such testing for example over a 24 hour period should be necessary, this must be agreed separately for a charge. In case of delivery from other access providers, other forms of testing and labeling may occur. Normally the connection will be marked with the access provider s connection number. This connection number will appear on Broadnet s notice of completion to the Customer. 4

5 4.2 Description of capacity and interface A connection has a pre-determined capacity, and the whole of this capacity is accessible for the user. Specifications for the relevant transmission velocities and interfaces are indicated in the following table: Capacity 2 Mbit/s 34 Mbit/s 45 Mbit/s 155 Mbit/s and nx155 Mbit/s 2048 kbit/s (E1) G ohm LSA kbit/s (E1) G ohm RJ 45 Physical interface 2048 kbit/s (E1) G ohm IEC (Siemens) 2048 kbit/s (E1) G ohm BNC 1984 kbit/s (E1) G.704, V.35 (with modem) 2048 kbit/s delivered over diverted 34Mbit/s (E3) G ohm IEC (Siemens) 2048 kbit/s delivered over diverted 34Mbit/s (E3) G ohm BNC 2048 kbit/s (VC-12) delivered over STM-1 diverted opt. 6 5 Supplementary services 5.1 Diversity Leased Line may be delivered with the supplementary service Diversity for capacities from 155Mbit/s and upwards. With the supplementary service Diversity Broadnet ensures that two different wavelengths do not have common regulator points through the lifeline of the lines. We perform regular reviews of our network to ensure that the connections have the necessary separation. 5.2 Multi-access Leased Line may be delivered from one multiaccess point Leased Line Multiaksess where several lines are gathered together to simplify the delivery and the operative process between the Customer and Broadnet. Broadnet offers multiaccess with the following capacities: 155Mbit/s: For capacity from 2Mbit/s to nx34mbit/s 622Mbit/s: For capacity from 2Mbit/s to nx155mbit/s Leased Line ordered with one end-point in a multiaccess is hired as Leased Line Access. Standard Point to Point connections are hired as Leased Line Point to Point. 5.3 Guaranteed delay For services delivered with 99.0 % accessibility, Broadnet can offer the supplementary service of guaranteed delay. Broadnet then ensures that Leased Line is delivered in an appointed trace with a given delay. Broadnet carries out regular reviews of our network to ensure that the connections are routed the right way with the shortest possible delay. 6 Technical quality Quality in Broadnet s SDH network is determined by the criteria stated here. The access connections which Broadnet might hire from other providers between the trunk network and the Customer s premises may deviate from these requirements and criteria. The Service is delivered with a agreed Service time and a Service Quality Guarantee. 6.1 Service time The Service time specifies the period Broadnet will do fault correction on the Services. The Customer may select Basis, Utvidet or Kontinuerlig Service time. If the Customer wants fault correction outside the agreed Service time, this must be ordered separately as Payed Fault Correction. Additional cost will then be charged for this service. Broadnet is not able to guarantee that Payed Fault Correction always will be available. 6.2 Service Quality Guarantee The supplier s fiber equipment is in large protected against damages that can result in loss of service (cable damage), but the dark fiber service is realized as a point-to-point connection without protection/re-routing. Therefore, the customer is responsible for assuring re-routing of services in its own network. 6

7 The following Service Quality Levels are available for Leased Line: Parameters Guarantee 1 Guarantee 2 Guarantee 3 Service Availability per quarter 99,00% 99,60% 99,99% Physical fault correction (Guaranteed time to repair) Terminal based fault correction (Guaranteed time to repair) < 20 hours < 8 hours < 5 hours* < 16 hours < 4 hours < 10 minutes Access type Singel Redundant Fully redundant Responstime < 2 hours < 1 hour Immediately Feed back from NOC < 2 hours < 1 hour < 30 minutes *Availability assured with redundancy Table 4 Spesification of Service Quality Guarantee 6.3 Procedure for Rectification Broadnet supervises Leased Line around the clock all the year round. Broadnet s operation centre will discover many types of error, and will then notify the Customer about this within the Agreed Service time. In the cases when the Customer discovers an error on the service which he has not been notified about, notification to Broadnet must be sent as soon as possible. Before the Customer notifies errors to Broadnet, it is essential that the own equipment is checked. If a customer-notified error proves to lie with the Customer s equipment, then Broadnet will get paid for the troubleshooting. If an error or a problem arises, the necessary investigations and troubleshooting measures shall be initiated according to Broadnet s specifications for error handling. Errors may be reported by phone or . Broadnet s Customer Service needs the following information: Connection number Description of the error Modem status (if possible) and confirmation that the own equipment has been checked Telephone number and address to contact person at the Customer for testing and access Time when the error was discovered Concerned address (where this applies) Any other relevant information Error reports and confirmations are reported to the Customer by phone or according to approved procedure. 6.4 Delay Leased Line produced in Broadnet s SDH network gives little delay. A typical one-way delay between Oslo and Bergen, for example, is between 4 ms and 8 ms and between Oslo and Tromsø between 10 ms and 12 ms. 7

8 6.5 Switch time at breaks and projected work Broadnet s redundant circles are designed in order that the SDH network will switch to reserve path within 200 ms. 6.6 Synchronisation and sync-signal Broadnet makes use of own highly stable cesium clocks (PRC) for synchronization of the network, according to ITU-T G Error in transmission SESR and ESR on the connections in Broadnet s network is being measured according to the current ITU-T recommendations G.821 and G.826. The quality of the connections in Broadnet s network shall conform to the following quality level: Criteria Severely Errored Seconds Ratio (SESR) <0.03 % Errored Seconds Ration (ESR) <0.75 % Table 5 Quality, measuring period per quarter. Quality level 7 Prices 7.1 Price structure The prices for Leased Line are stated with start-up price and a monthly price based on air route length between Customer address A and Customer address B. Leased Line MultiAccess has a start-up price and a monthly price based on the multiaccess capacity. Prices for such things as internal cabling come in addition, removals and other work that is not included in the start-up price. 8
