3 The Company The focus of Baltic Software Solutions is the development and implementation of enterprise level tailor-made software for the financial services companies. Another growing BSS business area is ERP solutions focused to retail and supply chain management process. Software development, implementation training and consultancy are based on advanced IT technologies, standardized processes and qualified IT personnel. Our business philosophy. BSS promotes the new "Software Centric" approach to the Business Process Management. Main idea of "Software Centric" approach is that software is running and controlling the automatic processes and manual actions which are planned for making a certain tasks in the Process (workflow). For implementing of this approach in Business process management (BPM) BSS offers a complete set of tool and functions that assure BPM integrity. Baltic Software Solutions was initiated in 2001 by Aidas Kavaliauskas, who had a solid experience in software development for big Western European companies, and EGIB Venture Capital GmbH, Essen. German Investment Company offers financing and management services for promising and innovative companies during their establishment phase. Today Baltic Software Solutions is a member of CID company group with headquarters in Freigericht, Germany. BSS itself is located in Kaunas - third largest city in Baltic's the city with the biggest concentration of IT professionals in Lithuania and the Baltic's leading technical university. Lego alike approach - tailor made software solutions are built by assembling the specified functions, selected from the rich set of business functions. The user specific functions are developed according to given specification by modification of existing basic functions or as completely new development. Modular software architecture offers the customer short time of system development and implementation, and very attractive service price/performance value. BSS has frame agreements with business consultants in the area of financial services. Closer cooperation with consultants enables to align the system development with optimized business processes. 4 The Team Team consists of 52 employees with age average of 30 years. 100% are university graduates in IT. BSS is English speaking company with good knowledge of German and Russian. 88% of them are directly involved in software development process. 7 Solutions ADF application development framework System flexibility, performance, designing and fast implementation rate is mainly influenced by suitable development technology. For better performance of technological tasks BSS has developed its own ADF (application development framework) which is the basis for the tailored application development. Please see figure "ADF versatility" below. Fig. 1 ADF versatility ADF has multi-layer and multi-tier architecture consisting extended library of classes, implementing modular functional structure, and is based on Microsoft.NET framework. BSS ADF allows fast development of multi tier enterprise level applications by assembling ready-to-use modules and classes. ADF defines the rules of how the tailored software specification is mapped to the system architecture and how interactive upgrade of functionality is supported. The GUI components interface the business components. Presentation Tier implements automated data workflows for GUI initialization, loading, saving data, enabling and disabling forms. On this tier Multi-language support is implemented which allows runtime modification of terms and phrases. Application layer has class library which allows combining different reusable GUI components from User Interface tier into end products. Data Tier Data tier has Data Access class library which provides methods for exchanging data between business components and databases. Data tier has also designer tool which generates data entities and business components from database tables. Business Tier Business tier contains a class library which implements business functions. Business tier assures process authentication that prevents unauthorized usage of business components. Service Tier Service tier contains a class library which takes care of set-up and control Web Services, Remote objects, Windows Services and batch applications. Workflow engine BSS software is completely workflow driven. BSS promotes the new "Software Centric" approach to the Business Process Management. Our Software takes care of business process control and monitoring by using intelligent workflow management functionality supported by Scheduling, Task management & Notification services. Workflows are not set in the application code like in most software packages. Business flow diagram and control logic, defined by Business managers, is configured for workflow engine by using the user-friendly interface - Workflow designer with integrated version control. Leasing Suite contains set of the components which cover different functionalities starting from leasing origination phase to leased asset utilization. 10 Leasing Suite implementation The leasing software will be assembled and implemented in the short time, for very good price quality ratio and will assure minimum total cost of ownership (TCO) and very good return on investment (ROI) because: 1. BSS has a good leasing business process knowledge, 2. The development will be based on high experience in the development of leasing software as enterprise solution and the use of prototypes in the development of software specifications together with the customer, 3. The development will be performed on the modern Microsoft.NET platform by using ADF, consisting of the rich set of data management, business and graphical user interface (GUI) functions, typical for the leasing software, 4. Microsoft Office XP style, friendly and business oriented graphical user interface will allow the leasing personnel to perform the delegated tasks in the effective and comfortable way, 5. Specific software components design guaranties the easy software maintenance and simple, and, because of that, fast and cheap modification of program. Portfolio migration is very important part of any new software deployment and must be performed with high accuracy and safety. The key requirement for any portfolio migration is to ensure data consistency during the transfer among systems. BSS has developed tools for safe and efficient portfolio data migration among various financial IT systems. Benefits: Ensures migrated data consistency by providing check constraints; Has extensive logging with multiple severity levels that allows to distinguish between critical errors, errors and warnings; PMT can be configured to exclude certain contracts from the imported portfolio. Imported contracts can be set as not active in case if they have errors or warnings while the rest of portfolio can be activated and run; Enables incremental delivery of migration steps allowing business people to check results while other migration steps are still developed; Dramatically decreases migration time. Depending on the portfolio complexity the complete migration process takes from one to four months including account mappings and accounting rules configuration; All the data migration steps are reproducible at any time. BSS experience in this field has been gained by migrating more than 10 large financial portfolios. It is important to emphasize that all the data sources had a unique data format operated on number of different database management systems including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, SqlBase, IBM DB2. Original software was running on different platforms including MS DOS, MS Windows, AS400, DEC/MICRO-VAX4000 and several others. It means that tools developed by BSS are universal and can be easily adapted for any type of migration. 16 Customers GFKL Financial Services AG, established in 1992, is a leasing and financial outsourcing company. Core competence of the group is asset based lending and the evaluation, acquisition and administration of receivables portfolios. For the past six years BSS is the main software development partner to GFKL. BSS is involved in the development of a full set of applications that are used as main processing and accounting systems. These systems include an e-business platform for the online and POS processing of leasing contracts, an integrated contract administration and financial accounting system, an asset management system and credit application and processing system. Universal Leasing GmbH is a former subsidiary of the Allianz Group, one of the leading leasing companies in Germany that is independent of banks and manufacturers. BSS has developed tailored software for the sales management and e-business platform - NetLease. With the NetLease, Universal Leasing offers to the business partners a complete financing portal with the following service elements: Providing financing offers Fast decision making Managing and releasing contract documents Time limited offers termination Portfolio overview Reporting Proceed Asset Trading GmbH. The business model of Proceed Asset Trading GmbH focuses on repossessing and re-marketing of all kinds of movable capital goods out of non-performing or expired financing contracts. BSS has developed software which optimizes the assets valuation process. The latest product is Asset Management System. Proceed Portfolio Services GmbH manages extensive receivables inventories for national and international credit institutions and other institutional investors. The asset portfolios thus managed largely consist of consumer loans and leasing and hire-purchase agreements as well as mortgaged loans. In cooperation with GFKL specialists BSS has developed software for the fully automated portfolio management, including accounting, billing system, interfaces with banks, automated correspondence and notifications. In addition BSS has developed software for the portfolio migration, which automates portfolio take-over process. AL Finans A/S offers a wide range of Leasing, Loan and Factoring services to its Customers. New Fleet management system allows AL Finans not only finance the vehicles, but also provide its Customers with the internet access to the accumulated fleet performance information whenever they need and for any period wanted. Functionality of the new vehicle ordering and order processing progress presentation are added to the system as well. All that information is accessible via internet. System design incorporates the seamless integration possibilities with Leasing and Loan management system provided by BSS. Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania. BSS has developed fully tailored solution for the automated random selection of Questions & Answers for Tests and Exams under the Project "The Development of System for the Recognition of Vocational Competence and Skill". Kaunas Chamber of Commerce. BSS has developed tailored CRM solution for Kaunas Chamber of Commerce. Tailored CRM allows storing all customer data in one data repository and covers all the customer related activities. It is used to manage internal processes of the Chamber.
