1 Addendum 3 Service Pack 3 Addendum 3 The SalesLogix v6.2 Service Pack 3 includes performance enhancements, Global ID changes, updated Architect controls, and more. Service Pack 3 is a cumulative release; therefore, the changes previously released in v6.2.2 are also included in v Review the Upgrade Workplan found in the Applying Service Pack 3 for SalesLogix Version 6.2 documentation included with the service pack before upgrading to v Note Do not install Service Pack 3 if you use Oracle 8! 2 Sage CRM SalesLogix v6.2 Group Performance Service Pack 3 improves group performance and memory usage for large groups that are used in the SalesLogix Client List views. Formerly, groups with a large number of records (for example, 100,000+) may have taken several minutes to load, depending on system performance. Using Virtual Server-Side Cursors (VSSC) in Service Pack 3, the same groups may only take seconds to load. About Virtual Server-Side Cursors (VSSC) VSSC is targeted towards improving large group performance and memory usage in the SalesLogix LAN Clients Groups / List views, such that the Client can request data on an as needed basis. VSSC is best used on any large, read-only dataset. VSSC can not be used on an editable grid. VSSC allows users to scroll forward and backwards through data seamlessly because data is cached locally. This cache is dynamic, so old pages are thrown away to reclaim memory as necessary. VSSC is available by a change to the aduseserver in the ADO connection. When you open a new standard SalesLogix connection object, it will be client-side. VSSC Visibility in the Client When logged on to the SalesLogix Client looking at a List view, users will see one of two icons in the Lookup Bar (next to the Group Options button). These icons will indicate whether or not the current group uses virtual server-side cursors or client-side cursors. If a user attempts to sort on a column within a group that uses VSSC, the query will execute slowly. The best approach is to prevent users from sorting on non-indexed columns when using large groups that are in virtual server-side mode. Icon Mode Virtual Server-Side Mode When a group contains this icon, the group uses VSSC. Limit column sorting on these groups to prevent a delayed response. This group is used for groups with a large number of records. Client-Side Mode When a group contains this icon, the group does not use VSSC. Sort columns as needed. 4 Sage CRM SalesLogix v6.2 Group Manager Service Pack 3 includes an update to the Group Manager (for the administrator only) to filter and hide groups for better performance and easier navigation. Formerly, as the administrator logged on to the SalesLogix Client as "admin", all groups created by users were visible at the same time. Depending on the number of groups used, the List view for the administrator can easily become hard to manage. Using the new Show Groups feature available with Service Pack 3, the administrator can filter groups in the Client to show only groups that are visible to or owned by any SalesLogix user. Essentially, this feature allows the administrator to impersonate any user without having to log on to the SalesLogix Client using the user's credentials. To filter groups in the Group Manager 1 Log on to the SalesLogix Client as "admin". 2 Open the Account, Contact, or Opportunity List view. 3 Click the Groups drop-down arrow, and then click Manage Groups. 5 Addendum 3 Opens the Group Manager. 4 Click the Edit icon in the User box to select another SalesLogix user. 5 Select a user, and then click OK. 6 Click Close to close the Group Manager. 6 Sage CRM SalesLogix v6.2 Group Ordering Service Pack 3 arranges the order of groups shown in the Account, Contact, Opportunity, and Ticket List views alphabetically by group name. The Lookup Results and Latest [Accounts, Contacts, or Opportunities] group tabs will always appear at the beginning of the list. Manual ordering of groups in the List views is not supported. Numerical values preceding the group name have a higher group order than nonnumeric characters. SP3-6 Certified Student Course Curriculum - Version 6.2

7 Addendum 3 New Architect Controls The updates to the Architect Controls include the following an updated DataGrid control, new Chart control, and a new Windows Common Dialogs control. New Chart Control The new Chart control in Service Pack 3 allows you to create pie charts, bar charts, and cone charts. This control is a technology preview and will have full support in a future release. New Windows Common Dialogs Control The new Windows Common Dialogs control allows you to access standard Windows dialog boxes in the SalesLogix Client. 8 Sage CRM SalesLogix v6.2 Updated DataGrid Control The following changes were made to the DataGrid control in the Architect: Exposed the ShowSummaryFooter property for creating footers in the grid. Added the OnGetSummary event that occurs when calculating summaries. Added the OnFormatSummary Footer event that fires when the DataGrid displays footer text. Exposed the RowAutoHeight property for text wrap in cells and allowing ToolTips on truncated cells. Exposed the OnCustomDrawCell event for cell level formatting. 9 Addendum 3 Global ID Changes By default, the GlobalID is set for each table used by the Logging Server. This change eliminates the need for the SalesLogix Client to manually set the GlobalID in script for new tables and to simplify the processing needed in the Logging Server to determine the GlobalID programmatically. This functionality supports the Marketing Feature Pack and should not be edited. SalesLogix Profiling Toolkit - Preview The SalesLogix Profiling Toolkit provides a database independent profiling application to trace SQL and performance counters through the execution path of the OLE DB Provider (similar to Microsoft's SQL Provider). You can choose to profile any of the running applications (for example the LAN or Web Client) that are using the SalesLogix OLE DB Provider. A key feature to this functionality is that you can profile any running application, rather than having to stop the application, set a registry setting, and restart the application. 10 Sage CRM SalesLogix v6.2 Web Scalability and Performance The slxweb.dll has been rewritten for greater scalability and performance. This improvement reduces bandwidth and improves log on and response times. Additional performance enhancement changes include: Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1. with ASP.NET enabled is now required on the web server. The SalesLogix Web Host and Web Client now operate on non-english Windows operating systems. Microsoft Windows regional settings are now recognized and used for the Web Host and Web Client. The MSADC virtual directory is no longer used. SalesLogix recommends that you remove it. Thin Client Options ActiveX capability has been added for SalesLogix Web Client users who have disabled ActiveX control downloads in Microsoft, but who still want to use SalesLogix ActiveX components. After applying Service Pack 3, the Web Client Log On page contains extended features for optional download. Activ Includes Mail Merge and Outlook Send SLX features. 11 Addendum 3 Disabling Activ Disabling Activ on the log on screen affects the following Web Client features: The Write menu will not appear. The Send SLX button in Outlook will not appear. Literature Requests will use a DHTML version of the Select Template dialog box when using mail merge Sales Processes will display a message if a step action requries mail merge. The Labels option is unavailable in the Mail Merge dialog box. Disabling Reporting Disabling Reporting on the log on screen affects the following Web Client features: Reports Nav Bar button will not appear.
