Creativity in Business An Innovative Leadership Development Program
Creativity is certainly about generating original ideas, developing new approaches to problems, taking risks and making a unique contribution. But ultimately it boils down to bringing your essential Self your soul and passion to your work and, indeed, to everything you do. Michael Ray Developer of Creativity in Business Professor, Stanford University 2
Why is Creativity in Business Important? Tapping into your creativity brings out innovative ideas, products, services, and ultimately, greater customer satisfaction. A creative approach fosters your leadership, helps you build closer relationships, and makes work and life more deeply satisfying. Discovering your creativity gives you a greater sense of self-worth and gives greater meaning to your work. Approaching work and life with a fresh perspective opens up new possibilities. 3
Creativity Course from Stanford University The original course was developed at Stanford University by Dr. Michael Ray and has been taught there for twenty years. It has also been taught in corporations in a wide variety of industries. 4
Jim Collins - Management Consultant, and Co-author of Built to Last and Good to Great Creativity in Business is the most profoundly life changing course taught at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. What this material is particularly good at is helping people find the intersection of that which they are highly capable of contributing and that which they are committed and passionate about contributing to. 5
Barry Sudbury, VP Research & Development, Clorox It had a lot to do with developing the inner personal side of individuals in order for them to be more creative people. It really caused us to explore ourselves deeply, both individually and as a group. It was somewhat of an extraordinary transition. 6
Gary Marenzi - President MGM Telecommunications This course has something that no other course has, a track record of very successful business people taking the course where it really works and people come back again and again and speak highly of it. It stays with you. It s s been 15 years since I have taken the course and not a day goes by that I don t t think about some thing that I learned there. 7
Five Assumptions the course is based on 1. Creativity is essential for leadership, happiness, success. 2. Everyone is creative you don t have to be an artist! 3. Creativity is often blocked by fear, judgment and the inner critic 4. Paying attention to creativity brings it out. 5. Creativity is idiosyncratic we each have our own gifts, experiences, and talents. 8
What participants will gain An opportunity for a major breakthrough in an important challenge or goal Assistance in removing significant blocks to personal creativity, passion, purpose and vision Inspiration to take more risks and develop innovative leadership and consistent breakthrough thinking Practical tools and principles to apply to work and life challenges 9
