The course has been designed to impart practical knowledge on Android application programming thus to reduce the gap between the demand and supply of Competent Android Application Developers. Objective of the Course: The course is a 3 month course suitable for fresh graduates seeking a quick jump start into the world of Android development. Students with working knowledge of C and Operating Systems are allowed to attend this course. The project work at the end of the course enables students to get an exposure to industrial standards. Outcome of the Course: This is a hands on course which provides participants with the information and lab experience necessary to develop and deploy Android applications. This course starts with core java and covers SQL programming and Android application Development. Selection of candidates: Admission will be based on the marks scored in the qualifying exam. f. Test/Interview (if applicable) : Not applicable g. Counseling/Admission : 09-Mar-2015 h. Admission Procedure : Students who have been selected for test/interview/counseling/admission are required to report to NIELIT on the prescribed day by 9:30 hrs along with the following 1. Attested Copies of Proof of Age, Qualifications, etc 2. Original Certificate of the above 3. Two copies of photograph and one stamp size photograph for identity card. 4. ORIGINAL Community Certificate or SC/ST Certificate ( in English or Hindi only) issued by an Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar. (if applicable) 5. Income Certificate (if applicable) The students on reaching the institute are required to meet the Front Office Councilor (FOC). The FOC then directs the student to the Course Coordinator. The student gets the enrollment form verified by the Course Coordinator and then Page 3/5

4 meets the FOC who shall direct the student to the Accounts for payment of fees. A student is thus admitted. i. Discontinuing the course: No fees under any circumstances shall be refunded in the event of a student discontinuing the course. A student can however, be eligible for module certificates (applicable only for courses which provide for modular admission) which he has successfully completed provided he has paid the entire course fees. j. Course Timings : 9.30 am to pm and 1.30 pm to 5.15 pm Monday to Friday k. Location and How to reach : NIELIT Calicut is about 22Kms from the Calicut (Kozhikode) city and close to NIT (REC) campus. A number of buses [Buses to NIT via Kunnamangalam] are available from "Palayam Bus Stand or KSRTC Bus Stand". Our stop is called "Panthrand" & is one stop before NIT. The bus fare is around `.17/- from Calicut City to NIELIT. Calicut city is well connected by Rail, Road and Air from different parts of the country. The climatic conditions in Calicut are perhaps one of the best in India throughout the year. The maximum and minimum temperatures range between 35 and 20 o C. Placement: Our Placement Cell provides placement assistance to students who qualify our courses. About 80% of students are already placed in various companies like Wipro, TCS, Samsung, BDI Systems etc. o. Hostel facilities : Hostel accommodation is available for boys and girls on daily or monthly chargeable basis. The hostel fee varies from ` 700/- to ` 1,300/- (for Boys) per month and ` 1000/- to ` 1400/- (for Girls) per month depending on the location of Page 4/5

5 accommodation. However, students are required to pay the hostel fees for the duration of the course for which they are seeking admission at the time of joining the course. p. Canteen facilities : The institute has a canteen functioning at the main campus and food at reasonable rates is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner q. Lab Facilities The IT Lab is equipped with high-end Intel Xeon Dual Processor based servers and more than 100 networked PCs with internet facility. A variety of software is available which include Operating Systems like Windows 2008 Server, SCO UNIX, QNX, Novel NetWare, RedHat Linux, RT Linux and development tools like Visual Studio 2012, Kylix, Rational Rose, and Cold Fusion and RDBMS like Oracle and SQL Server r. Course Contents : Core Java Introduction to Java Platform, Data Types, Variables, Arrays, Operators, Control Statements, Java Classes and Objects, Methods, Inheritance, Packages and Interfaces, Exception Handling, Threads and Multi Threading, I/O, String Handling, Java.Lang, Collections, Network Programming, Java AWT, Event Handling, Applets, Graphics, JFC Swing, JDBC Android Application Introduction to Android, Development Environment, Emulator-Android virtual device, UI Design- Activities, Layouts, Menus, Styles and Themes, Debugging Android applications, intents and Notification services, Content Providers- SQLite, Adapters and Widgets, Multimedia, Location based services, packaging and deployment.
