5 A D D I T I O N A L O N L I N E R E P R E S E N T A T I O N : Adoption Blog : River Oak Grace Website: S T A T E M E N T O F F A I T H THE BIBLE I believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are a complete, infallible and final revelation from God, inerrant in the original writings, and are the supreme and final authority for faith and life. GOD I believe in one God eternally existing in a unity of three equally divine Persons: Father, Son & Holy Spirit JESUS CHRIST I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the God incarnate and the eternal Son of God. I believe He became man without ceasing to be God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished the redemption of all mankind through His sacrificial and substitutionary death on the cross and then was literally and physically resurrected from the dead and is exalted at the right hand of God as our interceding high priest. He then ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He reigns as our High Priest. I believe Jesus is coming again to judge the living and the dead and to establish His eternal Kingdom. The return of Christ will be literal, personal, bodily and at a time that is known only by God HOLY SPIRIT I believe the Holy Spirit is God and that He regenerates and baptizes all believers into the body of Christ and indwells and seals them until the day of redemption. He convicts the world of sin, sanctifies, guides, fills and teaches every believer. MAN I believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that through Adam s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, became alienated from God and received the consequences of physical and spiritual death. I believe that man is totally depraved and in himself, absolutely unable to remedy his lost condition SALVATION I believe that salvation is the gift of God offered to man by grace and received through repentance and faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone, and that all believers in Christ can have assurance of their eternal security and future resurrection as children of God because of God s saving power. ETERNITY I believe at the great and final judgment, God will bodily raise the dead and judge the world. I believe that He will grant the believer eternal life in a new heaven and earth forever in His presence, and that the unbeliever will be condemned to eternal punishment and everlasting fire apart from His presence. THE CHURCH I believe the church is the body and bride of Christ, the visible manifestation of Christ on earth, and is a spiritual organism comprised of those who have placed their faith in Christ alone for salvation. The church has been commissioned by Christ to make disciples and has been equipped by the power and gifting of the Holy Spirit to proclaim the gospel of Christ and build His kingdom. The church is a body of believers that regularly gathers for teaching, prayer, fellowship, and the observance of Christ's teaching regarding baptism and the Lord s Supper. The church has been commanded by God to love Him supremely and others sacrificially. The church is called to live out its faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor, justice for the oppressed, and opposition to the spiritual forces of evil. The church glorifies Christ by operating in love and unity without compromising God s truth. Page 5
