1 NOTE: APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY JULY 19 TH TO THE STUDENT MINISTRY OFFICE. The Student Leadership Team at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church is an opportunity for high school students to leverage their God-given gifts and talents in order to impact the world around them for Christ. The Student Leadership Team encompasses six different positions of leadership; while each position of leadership has differing descriptions and expectations, the goal is the same: for student leaders to make disciples of Jesus Christ as they live out their walk with Christ in the mission field where He has placed them. Because of this unified and important goal, we expect students to meet the following qualifications in order to serve as a member of the Student Leadership Team: Commitment to Christ: Student leaders need to have a mature and growing relationship with Christ. This means that: They understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ, have been changed by it, and know how to articulate it. They know how to spend time with the Lord in prayer and Dye Groups. They actively obey God s commands and are striving to put off actions that don t line up with Christ (i.e. foul language, sexual immorality, drinking, cheating, lying). They actively obey God s commands by striving to continually put on the actions of a believer: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, etc. Commitment to Church: Student leaders need to understand the importance of church and their role in the church. This means that: They are an active member of their Sunday morning small group. They actively attend one of the Sunday morning worship services at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church.

2 They are honest with other believers about why and how they may be struggling in their lives. They allow other believers to speak truth (although sometimes difficult) in their lives so that others can encourage them in their walks with God. Commitment to Mission: Student leaders need to understand that God has saved them and gifted them for the purpose of sharing His love and truth with the world around them. This means that: They are actively building relationships and praying for those around them who don t know Jesus They look for opportunities to serve others and meet their needs They are ready and willing to share the Gospel when the Holy Spirit prompts them STUDENT LEADERSHIP POSITIONS Below are the different avenues in which students can serve as leaders. Note: These are brief descriptions, but detailed descriptions are available on the website. While students may specify on the application where they would like to serve, the DSM staff will pray through and make this decision based on where we feel God has best gifted them and equipped them for service. Dye Group Apprentice (11 th & 12 th grade only): The Dye Group Apprentice supports the adult facilitator in leading the lesson portion of Dye Group each week and assists in facilitating conversation. This role is best suited for those who have the abilities of listening and communicating. Dye Group Logistics Leader: The Dye Group Logistics Leader oversees all of the details of the weekly Dye Group meetings. This role is best suited for those who have the gifts of administration and/or leadership. Dye Group Hospitality Leader: The Dye Group Hospitality Leader works to provide a warm environment for students each week. This role is best suited for those who have the gift of hospitality, compassion, or mercy. First Impressions Team: First Impressions Team members help the Welcome Crew welcome and connect Sunday morning visitors and new students on Illuminate nights. This role is best suited for those who have the gift of hospitality, compassion, or mercy. Worship Team: Worship Team members use their God-given musical gifts to help lead worship on Sunday and Wednesday nights. This role is best suited for those who have the ability to play an instrument or sing. Production Team: Production Team members assist the Student Ministry staff in dreaming up creative elements for Sunday morning small group, Sunday nights, The Loft, Illuminate, and other big events. This role is best suited for those who have the ability to think creatively and manipulate audio and visual components.
