1 Unyson (UYSN) Project FAQs EDI Q: Does UYSN have the ability to receive and accept tenders? When using ABF for outbounds, it is necessary to call them with load information. A: This is the same as the current process for General Mills LTL shipments. A new offer tender on LTL to Unyson will be routed to specific program carrier for the destination state on the shipment. Unyson will be able to receive EDI load tenders on the outbound side of General Mills business. Q: LTL orders will come to us routed UYSN, will we then have to use the UYSN routing guide and call the Unyson carriers to arrange the daily LTL pick up at the warehouse? Or will Mike Elliott be doing that from General Mills? A: Centrally tendered locations can rely on their on-site HQ load coord. to make the LTL tenders to Unyson. The Unyson carrier will make pick up arrangements with the facility directly. Locations that tender shipments to carriers in the field will be responsible for contacting Unyson or the Unyson carrier on their route guides. Returns Q: We have occasions where a customer might refuse a very small quantity for damage. Instead of the carrier bringing it back to us we will usually have them take the product to an LTL terminal close to where they are. How would we handle that in the future? A: When customers or truckload carriers call to set-up product returns related to customer refusal, simply call the Unyson call center number. Carrier Q: It sounds to me like Unyson is a broker and doesn't have its own equipment? 1
2 A: Unyson is a 3 rd party logistics company (3PL) There are 12 program carriers. Routes Modes Q: Does this include miscellaneous shipments..? A: UYSN should be contacted for all less than truckload (LTL) shipments. Outbound / semi and fini mode 41. Customer returns to csf s or foodshelves. Inbound raw materials/ingredient/packaging shipped collect when General Mills is responsible for paying the freight. Miscellaneous shipments without a SAP PO or shipment # will still need to be routed to UYSN. The difference on non PO/SAP shipment # loads are that they require UYSN to paper bill General Mills. Scope Q: This also pertains to LTL shipments when shipments cannot go through SAP such as the JFB Tech Center? A: Yes. Q: Does this include our outside warehouses? A: Yes. Q: How will LTL claims be resolved with Unyson? A: Unyson will be the General Mills carrier of record even though they have other carriers actually picking up General Mills freight. All claims will be filed through Williams and Assoc. and be pursued directly with Unyson for resolution. Q: Will the new carriers have food grade equipment? A: All facilities should expect nothing less than a clean, dry, food grade trailer for loading their LTL shipments. 2
3 Q: How do we contact Unyson? A: Unyson Call Center # Q: What SCAC code do we use for Unyson? A: LTL SCAC for mode 41 post 2/4/8 = UYSN Q: UYSN then notifies carrier that there is a load to be picked up? How will Security know who is arriving for a load and why? A: There are 12 LTL program carriers working for UYSN. Facilities will consult their Unyson route guide to determine which is the right carrier based on the destination state of the LTL shipments. The container ID field can be used by ship locations to show security and warehouse personnel which program carrier should be loaded. Q: Will ABF still be a key player for inbound and outbound Albq LTL shipments? OR will there be several carriers? A: ABF is NOT an ongoing LTL program carrier. All facilities should follow their UYSN provided route guide. Carrier issues should be reported so they can be addressed and corrected with the carrier or an alternate solution can be found. Q: How will we know who is carrying inbound loads if we need to trace them? Is it one-stop shopping through UYSN? A: With a valid General Mills PO or shipment number, you will be able to track and trace through a Unyson website, or by calling the Unyson Call Center # or by contacting the on-site Unyson person, Bradley Linnell. Q: What if shipments do not have GMI 10-digit code and no SAP order number? IE: equipment, return to vendor, MSO type shipments? A: These situations will not require a diff. LTL carrier plan. It will simply require UYSN to create paper bills for these types of exceptions. 3
4 Q: Does there need to be a change to the BOL? A: The Bill of Lading must include the General Mills' Shipper number and BOL number. The Bill to party on each BOL must read: Third Party Billing General Mills, Inc. c/o Unyson Logistics PO Box 7047 Downers Grove, IL Q: Do we EDI our LTL Shipments to Unyson (UYSN) or to Webber and if it is Webber - what is their SCAC code? A: Initially, when you see UYSN come down on the tender, you will need to consult the route guides that were sent. The LTL program carrier should be contacted for pick up. You can establish a drop with the program carrier if it makes sense. Tender/SAP must reflect UYSN. Program carrier will be billing Unyson, not General Mills. You can use the equip. ID field to put in the "loading/loaded" carrier w/o impacting frt. pay. Q: Once we EDI the shipment to the correct SCAC code from question 1 A: once we establish EDI tenders, they will all go to UYSN. Q: Who do we follow up with a phone call to Unyson or Webber? A: Once you see the Unyson SCAC on a mode 41, consult the route guide for what program carrier to call for the shipments destination state. Q: Can you provide the contact information for this phone call - phone number - address. A: Program carrier contact info is in the route guide.
