He graduated in 1997 with the MSc' degree and in 2003 obtained the degree phd., both at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czqstochowa University of Technology' In tggt-2003 Dr, slawomir GryS worked in the Institute of Electronics and control systems as assistant lecturer. since 2003 he has worked as Assistant Professor' His duties include education, research and organizational work' In Dr. Sfawomir Gry6 conducted research in the field of the "Dynamics of contact thermometric sensors and methods of its improvement", The measurable result of this research was a monograph, widely describing the scientific problem, modelling and algorithms' entitled,,korekcja charakterystyk dynamicznych czujnik6w termometrycznych - metody' uklady, algorytmy (eng. compensation of dynamical properties of thermometric sensors - methods, systems, algorithms)", Wyd. Politechniki Czqstochowskiej (eng' Publishing house of Czqstochowa University of Technology), Czqstochowa, Poland, 2oo4, p' 116, ISBN, B3-7r X, Also, new method of sensor dynamics' compensation, called "Two-sensor-system with blind identification of sensor's dynamics using DSP or embedded System" was co-developed by Dr, Slawomir Gry6 as a team work, Digital signal processing techniques were used for adaptive identification and compensation of sensor's dynamicar properties to ensure as fast as possible temperature measurement. The idea was patented as Polish patent "Spos6b pomtaru temperatury (Eng. Method of temperature measurement)", legal decision of Urzqd Patentowy RP (Eng, Polish Patent Office), 24'07'2007, no' PL "' ln 2oo Dr, Slawomir Gry6 conducted research in the field of the "Application of the artificial neurat network and hot probe method in thermal parameters evaluation of heat insulation materials,,. The 3D numerical modelling (finite element method) of heat transfer in U6

2 material was conducted to prepare learning data for artificial neural network' The ANN was used for determining the coefficients of the inverse heat conduction problem for solids' The network determines the value of the effective thermal conductivity and the effective thermal diffusivity on the basis of temperature responses of the hot probe and the auxiliary thermometer. During selection of optimal ANN architecture several configurations were evaluated. The influence of measurands uncertainty on identified values of the thermal parameters was arso analyzed, To realize this task Monte carlo analysis was conducted' This solution gives flse to a relatively simple measuring system based on a not expensive and simple B-bits microprocessor, The designed solution simplified the structure of measuring stand and the equipment required. The potential recipients of the results obtained are designers of portable measuring systems interested in practical implementations of the method of determining the thermal parameters of the thermoinsulation materials. The results were presented in journals and among other IEEE international conference' In 2OOg-2Ot7 Dr. Slawomir Gry6 conducted research in the field of the computer Architecture and organization, particurarry in the "computer Arithmetic"' He invented a low computational burden method of signed (two's complement) multiplication method ' The proposed algorithm rs suitable for embedded systems which are based on widespread microprocessors/microcontrollers which have an unsigned multiplication in their instruction set but no signed multiply instruction. Performance of the technique was compared to the software emulated versions of classical methods, such as radix-2 Booth method, reversal of sign method (negative to positive conversion) and sign extension method' The comparison of the oerformance of argorithm was carried out for crassicar Mcs-51 core and innovative ATB9LPx core treated as a reference microcontroller. The algorithm and results of comparison were oubrished in a scientific papers. The issue of computer arithmetic was widery discussed in academic textbook written by Dr, stawomir GryS and entitled "Arytmetyka komputer6w w praktyce (Eng, Computer arithmetic in practice)", wyd,naukowe PWN (Eng' Polish Scientific Publishers PWN), Warsaw, Poland, 2007, reprinted in 2013, pp' 182, ISBN ' From 2oo70n Dr, slawomir GryS has conducted research in the fierd of the "Infrared thermography as a method of subsurface defect detection", analysing a number of aspects of theprob em,themainresearchquestionaddressedishowmulti-layeredstructureofvar materials affects spatial and temporal temperature field on the material surface as response to a specified power thermal input, The analytical 1D and numerical 3D modelling was conducted' The efforts concentrate on the integration the active thermography, advanced algorithms and techniques of (thermal) image processing, theoretical modelling of thermal phenomen and estimation of the structure characterization uncertainty into a singre investigatory tool can be treated as measurable result of research, Furthermore, Dr' stawomir Gry5 has designed software,,ir Defect dete.tor,,imprementing his resurts in this fierd. He was decorated by Ministry of Education of Poland with Medal of KEN "Committee of National Education"' He also was distinguished in Innowationspreis'2o13 for Minkina w,, Gry6 S, "IR defect detector - a new software tool for defect detection,, by Association for Sensor Technology (AMA - Arbeitsgemeinschaft Messwertaufnehmer Fachverband frlr sensorik e'v')' For his achievements he was awarded by the President of Poland with Brown Cross of Merit' To sum up, Dr. slawomir GryS is an outstanding scientist of our Faculty' His research contributes to the development of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering ' The scientific achievements of Dr. srawomir Grys fuily justify his apprication to the Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering of approval of his postdoctoral and Informatics at rechnical University of KoSice to start the procedure habilitation qualification.
