11 Risk Areas Priority zones LEVEL OF SERVICE REVIEW High Priority 207/ 950 charts in Canada 29/65 charts for Quebec Region Changes proposed by the CHS that would be well received by clients : + Data acquisition prioritized according to risk area + More frequent publication for high-risk areas and less frequent for medium-risk areas + Notices to Mariners updates prioritized according to risk area + Publishing Notices to Mariners and Update Messages within one month + Publishing New Editions in paper and digital within three months + Emphasis on chart content rather than graphic presentation + Transition from paper to electronic formats for: - Catalogues - Water level forecast + Presenting Notices to Mariners using images + 3D navigation software + Charts visually different than the ones currently used + Increased involvement of the private sector for: - Customizing and printing charts (only if the CHS prevents a monopoly and validates operations) - Printing charts on demand by CHS chart dealers - Customized products offered by CHS chart dealers 11
12 Changes proposed by the CHS that would not be viewed as positively by mariners : Updating charts in low-risk areas only through Notices to Mariners (instead of producing New Editions) Discontinuing the practice of making hand corrections to charts prior to distribution Discontinuing Notices to Mariners service for Small Craft Charts CHS clients are still not ready to let go paper formats for electronic forms for: - Nautical charts - Sailing directions - Chart 1 LEVEL OF SERVICE REVIEW Implementation pe e tato aspilot Project internally Measure and Performance Analysis during the year Adjustment of Levels of Service prior to their publication Consultation with Advisory Panel next spring We are evaluating the possibility to make changes to Notices to Mariners following the results of the consultation BOATERS COMMERCIAL NAVIGATORS Notices to Mariners presented as images 86% 89% 12
