About the Outreach Training Program The United States Department of Labor OSHA Outreach Training Program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. The program also provides information regarding workers rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. This is a voluntary program and does not meet training requirements for any OSHA standards. Through this program, workers can attend 10-hour or 30-hour classes delivered by OSHA authorized trainers. The 10-hour class is intended for entry level workers, while the 30-hour class is more appropriate for supervisors or workers with some safety responsibility. Through this training, OSHA helps to ensure that workers are more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights, and contribute to our nation s productivity. 54 Cyber Risk Management Cyber Risk Management Certificate Program As technology continues to advance, so does our dependence upon it. The postal service is downsizing as regular snail mail is being replaced with . Auto mechanics now need to know more about car computer systems than belts and pumps. We are moving towards a cashless society, as electronic payment are now the norm. Think about it, taxi drivers now accept electronic payments cards, airline attendants no longer accept cash to pay for drinks and you can deposit money to your bank account by simply taking a photo of a check with your smart phone. Technology even controls the climate within office buildings, air traffic control towers, rail car traffic, oil pipelines, water and electrical plants as well as other critical infrastructure. In February 2013, the President declared that the cyber threat is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face as a nation and that America s economic prosperity in the 21st century will depend on cybersecurity. The discipline of risk management, with its tools and techniques, applies in the cyber realm as in any other realm. Cyber risk, as with all risks, must be managed through informed decision-making. We are pleased to offer a new series of courses that will enable you to make informed decisions concerning accepting or not-accepting cyber risk. Such decisions can only be made successfully through a riskbenefit analysis based on a clear understanding of cybersecurity. Introduction to Cyber Risk CYB 601 $1, Hours The first course discusses such topics as real world examples of cyber-attacks, assessing risks, and responding to risks. Major topics include: Understanding risk Cyber risk management fundamentals Framing risk Assessing risk Responding to risk Monitoring risk Cyber Risk to Information Technology Systems CYB 602 $1, Hours The second course covers the risks to information (computer) systems, and how they should be managed. Major topics are: Minimizing cyber risk to IT systems Addressing management risks Addressing operational risks Addressing technical risks Continuous monitoring Cyber Risk to Voice and Data Communications CYB 603 $1, Hours This course explains the various types of risks inherent to any telecommunications network, and methods to mitigate the risk. This course covers: Network fundamentals Common networking protocols, ports and services Boundary devices Network security architecture Wireless networks Voice over IP (VoIP) Virtualization and cloud computing Global supply chain Incident response Other ways to reduce cyber risks Cyber Law, Policy, and Ethics CYB 604 $1, Hours The last course in the certificate program explores these oftmisunderstood topics of cyber security not normally covered adequately in traditional cyber security courses: Background and key concepts US cyber security and privacy laws Intellectual property and copyright infringement Confidentiality and ethics in the internet age Use management controls to drive positive change 54 UT Arlington OSHA Education Center
