Ohnesorge, born on June 2 nd, 1988, in Göttingen, Germany, is Managing Assistant and Research Fellow at the Center for Global Studies/Chair in International Relations at the University of Bonn. In his studies, Mr. Ohnesorge took courses in International Relations, history, philosophy, and international law. He holds a bachelor s degree in Politics and Law (Bachelor of Arts, 2010) from the University of Münster and a master s degree in German, European, and Global Politics (Master of Arts, 2013) from the University of Bonn, from which he graduated with honors with a work on John F. Kennedy. In 2011/12, Mr. Ohnesorge studied abroad in the United Kingdom at the University of Southampton. At the Center for Global Studies, Mr. Ohnesorge heads the research group U.S. Foreign Policy and Soft Power focusing on U.S. foreign affairs as well as transatlantic relations in different dimensions (i.e., politics, security, economics, culture, and society). Within the context of this research, particular emphasis is put on the role of soft power in U.S. foreign relations both past and present. The PhD project pursued by Mr. Ohnesorge at the University of Bonn deals with the bilateral relationship between the United States of America and the Federal Republic of Germany and in particular examines the role of U.S. soft power towards Germany. Mr. Ohnesorge s major areas of expertise include soft power, personality and politics, and United States history and foreign relations.
