ID&R TENNESSEE STYLE Recruiting on a Budget
OVERVIEW Tennessee has been challenged with limited funding for over a decade and this has forced us to be very intentional with how we manage our time and funds. This presentation will cover how we as recruiters maximize our time and efforts in order to effectively recruit and serve students in our state. Today we will briefly demonstrate the process our recruiters go through from initial hiring until the end of their typical work day.
HIRING Craigslist, word of mouth, and reaching out to universities in target areas. Hiring Process Includes: Translation Phone Interview Lesson Plan Training Recruiter Certification Test In Person Interview Resource Document Training In Field Training with a Recruiter
RECRUITER CERTIFICATION TEST Read guidance and analyze scenarios. Answers must include: page and section reference to back up response and explanation. Yes or no is not accepted. The test is submitted, we review it, highlight the questions that are incorrect or incomplete, and the recruiter is responsible for referring back to the guidance for the correct answer. Why?- To ensure our recruiters know guidance inside and out.
RECRUITER CERTIFICATION TEST A family comes to your area every summer to pick berries. The parents always work for the same farmer, who guarantees them a job and provides temporary housing. Do the children qualify? If a child arrived in September, and the qualifying worker arrived in October, which date is the Qualifying Arrival Date? A family moved from the Marshall Islands to California, planning to stay permanently in the United States. Upon arrival, they found work in the grape harvest. After several months, they move to Oregon to work in the pear harvest. Which move qualifies?

Maximize time and Mileage: Map out a route for each group of locations to visit. Use Streets and Trips or Google Maps Be flexible- The plan is designed to give a starting place, but there may be leads that need to be followed immediately or at specific times.
GETTING OUT THERE Find a map of the county/city you are in. Be flexible and willing to change your plan. Keep your eyes open. Leads can be found everywhere.
