9 Program Overview Intensive and intellectually stimulating, the AGSM MBA program is designed to challenge assumptions and promote critical thinking. It is a generalist degree providing depth of understanding across the core management disciplines. An AGSM MBA gives students the opportunity to enhance career prospects and provides a solid foundation for pursuing new directions. The Full-time MBA program mixes traditional classroom learning with group exercises and has a two-stage structure. The first stage comprises 10 core courses and a set of three, compulsory, short Integrative Programs (IPs). The second stage is made up of 12 elective courses and further elective Integrative Programs. The program is designed to be completed in 18 months with a fast-track option of 15 months over five consecutive terms. Integrative Programs Integrative programs (IPs) are intensive three, four or five-day sessions at the beginning of each term. They integrate discipline-based knowledge from different courses into a broader view of management problems and their solutions. Students select three out of four IPs in the core phase of the program. Students can also choose from a range of elective IPs in the second stage of the program. The AGSM MBA program is extremely well-structured. It is tailored to suit the needs of demanding professionals and is very flexible to the individual. I am impressed with how meticulously the order of core courses and the structure of semesters are designed to facilitate optimal learning and development. Johan Brammer MBA Class of 2005 Elective Courses Students need to complete 12 elective courses. For more information about the range of electives visit Schools of Thought The ideas discussed in class are leading-edge because they are based on active research work and experience. They also demonstrate the evolution of content: that ideas are not static but open to challenge by research contributed by faculty members. The AGSM faculty is organised into six academic disciplines according to areas of research and teaching. General Management This discipline helps students develop strategic and entrepreneurial skills. It includes topics on innovation and strategy, international business strategy, corporate law, managerial decision-making, and managing biotechnology, among others. AGSM MBA Program 7
10 Learning how to interact efficiently with team members from different countries, cultural backgrounds and work experiences, is one of the greatest assets one gains from the AGSM MBA program. Andi Pannell, MBA Class of 2005 Andrew Thyne Reid Scholar Accounting and Finance The Accounting and Finance discipline helps students to improve their understanding of capital markets and the roles of organisations in those markets. Courses examine how the three basic ideas in finance the time value of money, diversification and arbitrage are used to evaluate investment and financing decisions. Student will learn how to best apply these concepts to add value to the firm. Economics The Economics discipline introduces students to macro and microeconomic issues. Students will learn how to model the behaviour of firms operating in diverse markets using the concepts of demand, supply and market equilibrium. Critical tools such as elasticity, opportunity cost and game theory are developed and used. By improving their understanding of the business environment, students will develop the skills to become knowledgeable business leaders. Marketing The Marketing faculty help students analyse and understand customer behaviour, communicate with customers and develop strategic marketing skills. By taking marketing courses, students can learn the skills to conduct a complete audit of the marketing environment, understand how to generate new marketing options, and use the marketing mix and account management strategies to deliver sales and other business benefits. Organisational Behaviour Organisational Behaviour draws on concepts from the social sciences to identify and solve some of the behavioural challenges faced by managers. Students learn how to design effective work units and gain an insight into how leadership influences individual and organisational performance. Courses in this discipline provide tools for building and sustaining high performance at the individual, group and organisational level. Statistics and Operations The ability to effectively model and manipulate real-life numbers is a key element of business success. The courses in this discipline aim to help students develop expertise in statistical and graphical techniques. Students learn new ways of evaluating arguments and making decisions through the application of statistical methods and procedures. 8 AGSM MBA Program

In addition, there are several kinds of financial aid available to finance your MBA: Grants or scholarships are given on the basis of different criteria (country of origin, gender, merit or other past accomplishments) Loans Fellowships (opportunities to earn money by teaching or assisting with research). The best way to find funding to help meet the costs of an MBA is to research the available options.
