FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS STRATEGIES 2.0 New Version
STRATEGIES TO FIT IN EVERY SITE A former factory now as a call center: Each alarm concept hat to meet the actual conditions of the building. A general non specific solution does not exist. Alarms in commercial buildings must be especially efficient and economical useful. Planners, installers and operators expect alarming strategies, with which they can react individually to structural requirements. The base for a relaible alarm is a long-lasting, uninterrupted and distinct signal for a sufficient time. To support this base, many national rules and norms require an alarm signal interruption freedom for a period of 30 min. The alarm concepts of the system detect 3000 from JOB Detectomat are based on these principles and integrate well pioneering technology providing a secure and convenient alerts. In case of alarm it is important to have a good alarm organization for persons in the building and to forward the alarm to the fire brigade. To ensure this as soon as possible, comprehensive approaches are needed. There are several opportunities for an efficient alarming strategy. The choice of the presented concepts is dependend of the specific requirements of the project and the demands of architects, designers and fire services. On the following pages we would like to present our different concepts from Basic Alarm up to Premium Alarm. 2 3
BASIC SMART The proven stub technology offers signifi cant advantages: For further optimization of the cabelling, it is possible, to use a second pair of wires in the same cable for the alarm lines. The signalling device cables are monitored by the fire control panel The connection of different signalling devices in high quantities is possible without any problems The realization of the cabelling is simple and cost-efficient Note: Depending on existing requirements it maybe necessary to use fi re resistant cables and to enhance the fi re control panel (by E30 housing) Figure 1 Figure 2 PL3200 T PL3200 T + PL 3300 O + PL 3300 O Key The cables in the drawing are used in the following way: Red lines are lines with active participants e.g. optical and acoustic alarming devices, which need quite a lot of energy. Here you can connect conventional devices which are not addressed. The cables are terminated at the end with a resistor to notice that when a line is open or a short circuit is existing. In case of error you will only know, that the alarm line is disturbed without knowing the exact location.. Except fi gure 4 - here the energy fl ows through the control line (Loop) - therefore, the number of alarming devices that can be supplied with energy is limited. Green lines are representing Loop cables where are connected addressable devices like detectors and modules are connected. E30 housing Optical alarm Acoustic alarm Voice alarm Addressable detector Similar to figure 1, but two lines in one cable. 4 5
COMFORT 1 COMFORT 2 In buildings with many of fi re compartments, an optimal alarm can be achieved in the individual sections by the distribution of externally supplied energy. This can be achieved via control modules which include a power supply. Advantages of this alarming solution: The Loop-controlled alarm via the signalling device family is fully performed over the Loop line. In this case the Loop cable is used for the detection and alarm. The technical features and the unique emission characteristics of: No requirement of fi re restistant cables towards the industrial fi re compartments No requirement of an E30 housing The connection of different signalling devices in high quality is possible without any problems Effective coordination of power supplies Note: In this solution you can realize the signalling line inside the same cable as described in the SMART variance, too One single line for detection and alarm functions for easy handling during installation Regardless of the software version of the DC3500, see Premium 1 and 2 Alarm There are only acoustic alarms connectable Mixed operation with the other alarm concepts is possible Note: In the alarm strategy you can calculate the energy ressources via the JOB Detectomat System Configurator. Figure 3 Figure 4 PL3200 T TI TI Alarm box Alarm box IOM3311 Alarm box The alarm boxes are power supplies with integrated modules as Loop-connection. 6 7
PREMIUM 1 PREMIUM 2 With the version 3.2 of the fi re detection panel generation of dc3500 JOB Detectomat provides additional features for the Loop-controlled alarm functions inside the system: Additional to the Sounder there s the opportunity to use optical/acoustical combi signalling devices (up to 30 sounder, up to 10 combination - depending on the Loop structure The signal transmitter can be programmed in time dependencies and associated alarm scenarios The further development of the alarming concept that will be used with version 3.3 of the dc3500 is an improved Loop-controlled signalling device. This concept will make it possible to connect up to 126 different devices of the family on the Loop and to supply them with energy. In addition to the acoustic and optical / acoustic devices then this series will be additionally available to realize voice alarming. Via the dc3500 the Conus devices can be controlled timely staggered and different sound and speech signals can be selected. This gives you the option for an individual adaptation to the respective alarm application. More alarm solutions, such as the transmission to paging systems, the interaction with voice alarm systems (VAS) and the connection to telephone systems are ensured via the interfaces of the fire control panel dc3500. Figure 5 Figure 6 In this alarm strategy the signalling devices optical and acoustic (cover with clear LEDs) can be connected directly to an addressable detector. The energy for the is taken from the Loop. The difference to figure 4-5 is that the devices can be driven timely staggered (first qty 1- then time X - then qty 2, etc.) Both lines (energy and detection) are parallel in one cable as Loop. With this solution you can transport energy for all devices in one loop (up to 126). 8 9
INTELLIGENT SIGNALLING DEVICE The Loop-powered sounder PL 3300 S 1 SE from the family is part of the JOB Detectomat portfolio. This sounder with isolator replaced now finally his predecessor, the Loop sounder LS 3300, which previously was parallely delivered. This new generation of signalling devices is especially comfortable to use in every site. Because of the integrated detector base the detectors of the PL series can be installed quickly and easily on top of the alarm devices, on walls as well as ceilings. With the same cable length can be driven up to 60% more alarm devices can be connected in a Loop caused due the new circuit technologies. If the number of alarm devices equal, a doubling of the Loop cable length is guaranteed. This reduces cable costs and wireing the building. A direct sound outlet provides decisive benefits. Regardless of whether the sounder is combined with a detector or acts as an autonomous alarm device, the volume and emission characteristics of the devices are always unchanged and louder than conventional devices. This optimal sound radiation makes it possible to equip larger object surfaces with the same results with less sounders. Acoustic signalling device THE ADVANTAGES AT A GLANCE: Optical / acoustic signalling device 60% more alarm devices on a Loop with the same cable length Doubling the Loop cable length for the same alarm device quantity Easy installation with an integrated detector base (on walls and ceilings) Optimum sound radiation, so that with a smaller number of signal heads, the same results are obtained Features The same volume regardless of the Loop voltage Optimized homogeneous radiation Monitoring and supply directly from the Loop protocol Built-in automatic reset function with signal external signaling devices on / off the control panel monitoring the operating state via the Loop3000 Independent programming (automatic and manual) using autonomous Loop address Built-insulator 28 different tones programmable via DIP switches Volume adjustable via integrated DIP switches Integrated detector base for the detectors series PL Cover included CT PL PL Voice acoustic s s s optical / acoustic s s addressable s s s optical / acoustic / voice alarm s 10 11

OPERATION OF FIRE S detect3004 plus IN ACCORDANCE WITH MLAR ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS / ADVICE FOR OPERATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH MLAR The Specimen Wiring Systems Directive (MLAR) from 2005 defines, among other things, building regulations for the isolation of wiring systems and is applicable building legislation in almost all federal states. The MLAR also applies for maintaining the functionality of electrical wiring in the event of a fire, and thus also for MLAR compliant fire alarm systems. max. 300m max. 20 detectors max. 300m max. 20 detectors max. 300m max. 20 detectors M1 M20 PL M1 M20 PL M1 M20 Resulting from this is one of the main requirements for the operation of a fire alarm system in accordance with MLAR: An interruption of the alarm in case of an error (for example, through a short circuit in the Loop) must only last for a maximum 5 seconds. With the fire alarm control panel detect 3004 plus you can achieve a MLAR-compliant fire alarm system in two ways: 1st option (conventional way): Using the sounder output module OMS 3301 Requirement: Sounder output module OMS 3301 Conventional sounder with external power supply 2nd option: MLAR IN PRACTICE The realisation of a fire alarm system in accordance with MLAR is not trivial and requires careful planning. A maximum of 25 PL 3300 SX SE MLAR Loop sounders can be installed per Loop. In practice, the real number of all devices of a Loop depends on the local circumstances (note here Loop calculator). The use of the Loop calculator is therefore imperative for a smooth functioning of the fire alarm system in accordance with MLAR. However, there are limitations as soon as the Loop runs in a combined operation. The maximum number of Loop sounders decreases as soon as certain Loop devices are used. The Loop devices permissible in MLAR operation are divided into three categories: Start Loop i It is imperative that the maximum total cable length of the Loop, as well as the maximum total number of Loop devices are calculated in the Loop calculator/configurator. The maximum cable length between two PL Loop sounders with an active MLAR function or between the start/end of the Loop and a PL Loop sounder with an active MLAR function is 300 meters. There may be a maximum of 20 Loop devices between two PL Loop sounders with an active MLAR function or between the start/ end of the Loop and a PL Loop sounder with an active MLAR function. End Loop Like its predecessors, the Loop module DLI3240 PSM can recognise creeping short circuits. The function for the exact position identification has been integrated into I-Check from version 4.25 onwards and must be started manually. If you want to convert an existing Loop to operate in accordance with MLAR, with I-Check from version 4.25 onwards you can determine whether there is a device without a separator in the Loop. I-Check emits an error message in this case. The Loop device must then be removed and, if necessary, exchanged for an MLAR-compliant device. Use of the Loop sounder PL 3300 Sx SE Requirement: Loop sounder PL 3300 Sx SE with activated MLAR function. In the factory settings for the PL 3300 Sx SE the MLAR feature is disabled. This function can be activated with Easy-Check from version 2.60 onwards and/or I-Check from version 4.25 onwards. Loop module DLI3240PSM with software V9 Only Loop devices with separator permitted Loop elements CATEGORY 1 PL 3300 O/T/ OT/OTi/OTi Fusion Loop elements CATEGORY 2 PL 3300 PBD PL 3300 SBD PL 3300 MCP IOM 3311 Loop elements CATEGORY 3 AMD 3311 OMS 3301 MINI OMS 3301 PL 3300 COBT TCM 3300 JOB DETECTOMAT SYSTEM CONFIGURATOR! Devices without separators, such as the series PL 32XX, are generally not permitted. If these are used, the commissioning of the fire alarm system in MLAR mode is not possible. The diagram shows which categories may be used depending on the number of PL 3300 Sx SE Loop sounders: CATEGORY 1 CATEGORY 2 CATEGORY Number of used Loop Sounder no further elements allowed Example: When using eleven Loop sounders, you may only install Loop devices from category 2 and category 3. The system configurator is an easy to understand and simple software tool for the planning of fire alarm systems. Even with little or no knowledge of the JOB Detectomat product portfolio, projects can be configured safely and reliably. Both the automatic and the manual configuration of a project include a plausibility check. Required system components (e.g. modules, power supplies) are automatically added. The recorded prices allow transparent budget calculation, including output of full specifications in various output formats (GAEB, Excel, for example). In addition to the integrated product catalogue, a detailed description with a picture is available for each item. Through the auto-update feature, it is guaranteed, at all times, that the software and the products stored are up to date. With the help of the integrated loop calculator, the arrangement of the individual detectors in the property can be planned in detail. The function is thereby ensured and any critical points (e.g. brownout) are indicated. You can find the configurator in the partner area on our homepage under Planning and tender
