18 Phase II Assessment of Conditions Key Findings Farnsworth Hall South Hall > SUNY Delhi is land rich as far as total acreage, but there are significant environmental constraints on land that is currently undeveloped. > The existing campus precincts are well defined and provide opportunities for future infill. > Relocation of facilities from the campus core provides the opportunity to expand academic uses in close proximity to the existing academic core. > The Phase II building conditions assessment identified a key academic building, Farnsworth Hall, in need of significant modernization for the flagship Veterinary Technology Program. A second major academic program, Nursing, is located in South Hall. This building was rated in poor condition and is not suitable for this program. 30 Conclusions > Classroom 28.3 net use hours > Laboratory 22.7 net use hours > All predicated on 2% enrollment growth Phase III Analysis of Space Needs > Space Utilization > Increase classroom and class laboratory efficiency before creating new instructional space, can accommodate growth through utilization improvement for 5+/- years > Not feasible to reach 100% utilization > A realistic recommendation is to achieve 50% improvement to existing utilization > Classrooms current 64% recommended 82% > Laboratories current 62% recommended 81% Associates State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi 30
31 Phase III Analysis of Space Needs > Calculated Space Need Associates State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi 31
32 Phase III Analysis of Space Needs Key Findings > An on-campus enrollment increase of 2% per year in full-time equivalent (FTE) was determined to be realistic and appropriate for the planning horizon. Projected FTE for 2013 is 2,860 and projected FTE for 2023 is 3,486. > On-campus FTEs are projected to grow by 626 for the planning cycle > Projected overall space need based on the FTE projections is 48,437 nsf or 65,657 gsf for the planning period > Two Signature programs, Veterinary Technology, and Nursing have significant needs for high-quality space. The possibility of the Professional Golf Management program gaining PGA accreditation would require new space for a program that could grow to 100 students.
