4 Projects and Research Digital Height Reference (DFHRS) An ellipsoidal height h, determined at a position P(B,L,h), is to be made convertible directly to the height H of the national height system. The converted height H should result online by applying a respective correction to h Concept: A finite element model represents the height reference surface (bivariate polynomials set up in meshes of an irregular grid) The DFHRS concept is realized in 2 steps 1. 7 Projects and Research ITRF-Based Network for Namibia Investigating g optional strategies for establishing a national network for Namibia. The study was conducted over an area of 200km x 200km and involved 30 trigonometric stations with approximately station to station distances of 50km. The project resulted in a quality assessment of the existing trigonometric network as well as the establishment of transformation parameters between the trigonometric and the new ITRF-based datum. 22 Accreditation of Programmes The Department has been given full accreditation for its programmes Accreditation Agency is ASIIN (the German Accreditation Agency for Study yprogrammes in Engineering, g, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics Our programmes received the accreditation based on an application that was examined by an audit team of five representatives, three from German technical universities, one from private industry, and one ASIIN member
