Yıldız Technical University (YTU) whose vision is to be a leading institution of international standing represents a unique milieu of education, research and culture in Turkey. YTU inherits our outstanding science, technology and culture; pioneering open access to academic research, technology and arts. Being one of the most well-known universities of Turkey, it is conductive to the achievement of the goal of the development and welfare of the society. YTU offers a range of programs at undergraduate and graduate levels, ranging from engineering disciplines to humanities and social sciences. It also provides opportunities for qualified students and academicians to participate in exchange programs. YTU is one of the leading government institutions situated in three campuses in İstanbul. It is the 3rd oldest university in Turkey with its history dating back to It is regarded as one of the best universities in the country as well. The university s mission is to promote development and cooperation at the national and international level by providing outstanding professional knowledge and skills in the educational fields. With over 100 different nationalities represented you will be working and living with people from all over the World. YTU s Student Union YTU s Student Union is one of the largest in the country with over 100 societies to choose from. Student event such as the stars of the year award ceremony is internationally recognized that brings celebrities and students together from around the world. Accommodation Our university offers modern, comfortable accommodation with high-speed internet and network access at three campuses, one in Yıldız, the others in Ayazağa and Davutpaşa. In addition, all of the campuses are full of good eating options, from food carts to fine dining. YTU Sport Provides every opportunity for you to try something new or compete in your sport. 5 YTU - Introduction YTU Art Centre In our university, the students, academics, and the administrative staff by coherently acting with each other demonstrate successful performance on culture, art and sport activities. Among these diverse activities, some of them are traditionally performed every year. The Library The library on Yıldız Campus has a range of facilities to help students and staff. The library includes a rich collection of books, and periodicals. Apart from the one on yıldız campus, another library at the Davutpaşa campus has been offering an extensive set of services and resources. The International Office Provides a wide range of services for both prospective and current students, including immigration advice, welfare support and an orientation program for those new to Turkey. Yıldız Technopark Yıldız Technopark is a Technology Development Zone, where university, research institutions and industrial organisations work together on research and development activities creating innovative research solutions. YTU TechnoPark is located on YTU Davutpasa Campus in Istanbul, currently the largest TecnoPark in Istanbul region with 60,000 m2 indoor facilities within 8 buildings which offer exceptionally high quality office accommodation. 6 YTU - Introduction Medical Centre Yıldız Technical University health services provides high quality comprehensive health care for our students at Yıldız, Ayazağa, and Davutpaşa campuses. Our medical centre provides a full range of medical services for students who register as patients. In addition to general practice services, the Centre provides a range of specialist clinics and visiting practitioners. YTU Careers Service YTU Careers Service gives students a real headstart in their job searches. The careers service provides outstanding guidance and support. YTU is widely recognized by employers as an ideal recruiting ground. Industrial Visits Alongside the academic program, YTU offers a series of industrial visits to locally based national and international companies. 7 İstanbul City İstanbul maintains a distinguished position among the metropolis of the world with its unique geographical location and a cultural heritage of thousands of years. As one of the most energetic cities in the world Istanbul continually gets to be an attraction center. There is a sense of energy and innovation in the city which is again very fashionable as a world destination. 8 Degree Requirements MSc. Degree (with Thesis option) The candidate is required to complete a minimum of 24 credit hours of course work (minimum 7 courses) in addition to an MSc. thesis and a seminar course with zero credits. The student has to maintain at least a GPA of 2.50 out of MSc. Degree (non-thesis option) The candidate is required to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours of course work (minimum 10 courses), in addition to an MSc. project and seminar course with zero credits. The student has to maintain at least a GPA of 2.50 out of Requirements PhD Degree The candidate is required to complete a minimum of 24 credit hours of course work (minimum 8 courses), in addition to PhD. Thesis. The Student has to maintain at least a GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 and pass the qualifying exam before starting his/her thesis work. 12 Graduate Programs Graduate Programs 13

9 Admission and application requirements TOEFL IBT: 72 YTU - Admission A relevant bachelor s degree (or equivalent qualification) from a university or other accredited academic institution. ALES, GRE or GMAT exam scores: > ALES (Quant.) at least 55 or above > GRE at least 610 > GMAT at least 450 Depends on the program you apply proof of proficiency in English or in Turkish is required. For the Turkish programs C1 level Turkish Language Certificate from TÖMER is required. You are exempted from English language requirements if: > You have completed your BSc or BA education entirely in English (It should be proved with a statement from the university stating that the language of instruction was English) > You are a native English speaker IELTS : 5 KPDS / ÜDS: 60 TOEFL PBT : 531 TOEFL CBT: 198 English language test minimum requirements REQUIRED DOCUMENTS Copy of a valid passport Copy of BSc, BA and/or MSc diploma 3 letters of recommendation from the university you graduated Official transcripts for all of the previously earned degrees Your diploma must be recognized by Turkish Higher Education Council For PhD programs a statement of purpose 14 Graduate Programs Graduate Programs 15
