14 Summary Launched in December 2012, UCC Health Matters is working towards making Developing a brand e.g. name, logo, social media presence. UCC Health Matters Establishing a Steering Group and a Working Group UCC a Health Promoting University by The aims of the UCC Health Matters Action Plan are; Identify Action Areas and Develop Action plan Map UCC current work and activities Implement Action Plan (We Are Here) To integrate within the University s structures, processes and culture a commitment to health and to developing its health promoting potential. Self Evaluation Official recognition as a Health Promoting University Journey To promote the health and wellbeing of students, staff and of the wider Identify The Action Areas community. The objectives of the UCC Health Matters Action Plan are; To integrate a commitment to and vision of health within the University s plans and policies To develop the university as a supportive, empowering and healthy study Sexual Health Safety Nutrition and workplace To support the healthy personal and social development of students and Sustainable Development staff To create health promoting and sustainable physical environments To increase understanding, knowledge and commitment to multidisciplinary health promotion across all University colleges and departments To support the promotion of sustainable health within the wider 14th On December 2012 Dr Michael Murphy, President of UCC, signed an agreement with the Health Service Executive (South) committing the University to becoming a place which enables it s students and staff to increase control over, and to improve their health. community Alcohol and substances Physical Activity and active transport The Built Environment Mental health and wellbeing Develop an Action Plan The Action Plan identifies 5 Strategy Areas (S), and a number of Action Points (AP) within each Strategy Area. Each Action Point has it s own outcome Key Performance Indicator, monitored and reported by the Network Group S1. Provide education, information and training for students and staff AP 1.1 Alcohol information session to be provided to all incoming 1st year students at orientation S2. Put in place effective screening, referral and treatment services AP 2.1 Develop, disseminate and promote guidelines for staff as to how and to whom to refer any student S3. Make the campus and the local environment safer from alcohol related harm AP 3.1 Encourage and monitor a zero-tolerance policy to anti-social behaviour AP 4.1 S4. Influence local, regional, national, and sectoral alcohol policies and practices harm Establish a Forum of students, residents, landlords and Gardaí to help reduce alcohol related S5. Research alcohol use and monitor progress and effectiveness of strategies Develop a dashboard of Key Performance indicators (KPIs) for each of the Action Points AP 5 AP 5.1

16 Action Plan One of the core processes of the HPU Initiative Challenge is to create an action plan that aspires to develop a Health Promoting University rather than an action plan that involves doing health promotion in the University.
