16 Active Vehicle Barriers Crash rated Drop BEAMs The Crash Rated Drop Beam is an active vehicle barrier beam design built high duty cycles. The rectangular rigid steel beam is driven by a patented actuator, spring assist system and encoder drives with PLC integration for 360 degree positioning and exceptional speed and control. Upon impact, the beam transfers the force asserted into the buttresses and down into the concrete foundation. The barrier operates in 5-10 seconds, under normal conditions and in less than 3 seconds in the case of an emergency. Electric drop beam barriers operate in conditions ranging from -30º F to 200º F, making it the preferred choice among drop beams for cold weather applications. An optional battery backup provides approximately 600 cycles in case of power loss to prevent vulnerabilities. Features: No above ground concrete Drill press for manual operation Touch Screen controls are easily integrated with other systems 208V, 3PH, 1½ HP (available option 240V, 1PH) Horizontal swing and vertical lift arms available Hydraulic and Manual Systems available with ratings of: - K12 (15, mph) - K8 (15, mph) - K4 (15, mph) 14

44 Passive Barriers Post & Cable Barriers The Post & Cable barrier system prevents threat vehicles from exiting and entering the Access Control Point response zone. This system has specially designed posts with strategically positioned cables that increase the ability to restrain various types of vehicles while assisting in the prevention of potential head-on collisions. Post and Cable Barriers are a cost-effective solution that is preferred by contractors for its ease of installation and its wide variety of FHWA accepted applications. The Wire Rope used with the Post and Cable Barriers have a 3/4 diameter. The cable is pre-stretched during manufacturing, to reduce stretching during impact, and is interwoven around special steel poles then securely anchored to the ground at each end. The three strand cable acts as a mini-anchor which helps to limit the extent of damage during impact, even around tight curves. 42

These decorative security barriers replace unsightly Jersey or K-Rail barriers and can be implemented with various levels of anti-ram protection while maintaining a pleasing appearance. Our security barriers can be stand-alone units with finished ends for spacing to support perimeter security. They can be deployed with numerous styles and configurations, such as corners and angled barrier sections to meet your specific security demands. 45
48 Electronic Monitoring ODDS Increase your facility s security with the ODDS package. ODDS is an advanced alert for potential vehicle threats to increase response/reaction time to employ the barrier, adding safety and reducing risks. ODDS alerts the Guard Force at an Access Control Point (ACP) that a vehicle is approaching at a high rate of speed in the inbound or outbound lanes, reducing surprises. The ODDS package emits an alarm and displays a message to give increased time to effectively reduce potential risks. Alerts security if a vehicle is attempting to enter your facility through the exit lane. Multi-functional: The system can be utilized with any Smith & Wesson Security Solution s product or has the capability to be used in conjunction with any barrier product or security system to improve ACP functionality and safety. Applications: The ODDS package is designed to alert guards to potential threats by detecting vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed and by alerting to vehicles entering or exiting in the wrong direction. These benefits have made ODDS an ideal security solution for many applications such as: Military Facilities Government Buildings National Laboratories Corporate Entrances/Exits Airports Borders and Checkpoints RADAR SPEED SENSOR A complete Doppler Radar in a small, rugged, water-proof, cast-aluminum housing. Features the longest range available - up to 2 miles. COMPUTER UNIT A small, made to order, unit to be housed in your secured area. Displays the warnings produced from the sensors on screen. REMOTE DISPLAY UNIT Display unit with Network Capabilities, updated via Windows software, memory back-up during power outages, Data conversion for driving displays greater than 50 feet away. 46
49 * Smith & Wesson Security Solutions provides complete over-speed and wrong way design calculations to satisfy the U.S. Army Corps of Engineering requirements and protect your facility. Zone 1 covers from the ACP entrance to in front of the ID check area. Over-speed detectors shall be set at 10 mph over the posted ACP speed limit of 25 mph at the ACP entrance. The ACP speed limit should be reduced from 25 mph to 15 mph at 250 feet in front of the ID check position. Zone 2 covers a zone from in front of the ID check area extending from the canopy gate house or ID check area. Over-speed detectors shall be set at 20 mph. Wrong Way Zone can be found in the area in front of the check point consisting of the outbound traffic lanes, detecting a vehicle traveling the wrong way. Covers a zone from in front of the ID check area extending from the canopy gate house or ID check area.
