Program Manager, Board of Visitors (BOV) Simulation Program July 2011-August 2015 Managed the day to day operations of the BOV Simulation Program, including budget management and the purchase and maintenance of the required equipment. Insured learning activities support the organization s strategic plan. Provided opportunities for facilitator education and continuing competency development. Worked with both internal hospital based and external academic based educators to provide and support teaching and learning using simulation methodology. Facilitated the development of case scenarios including outcome evaluation tools. Continuously reviewed curriculum to insure the activities met the 3
4 competency developmental needs of the inter-professional clinical staff. Operated to insure a cost efficient quality program. Prince George s Community College, Largo Maryland Adjunct Clinical Faculty, September 2005 August 2011 Facilitated student nurse rotation through Pediatric Clinical Nursing Practice, at Children s National Medical Center. Staff Development Specialist, Feb June 2011 Provided educational sessions in Central Nursing Orientation Programs for all levels of nursing and support staff, in collaboration with members of Nursing Education and Professional Development Department. Continuously assessed the orientation programs to insure the curriculum meets changing competency requirements. Worked with unit-based educators to incorporate the Professional Practice Model as a framework for orientation activities. Facilitated and coordinated the Preceptor Role Foundation Program. Provided lecture discussion for the Charge Nurse Program, Internship program, Shift and Clinical Program. Provided advance learning through simulated case scenarios for the acute and critical care internship and fellowship programs. Supported the revision of nursing documentation instruments to insure congruence with patient care standards. Through grant funding, established a Clinical Simulation Learning Center in collaboration with department director. Developed and facilitated activities required to insure ongoing efficient operation of the Simulation Learning Center. Advance Practice Specialist, Pediatric Critical Care Unit, Developed educational plans based on the specific needs of the unit and the organizational strategic plan. Organized, facilitated and monitored unit orientation for all level of nursing staff. Provided continuing education activities based on high risk, low volume, problem-prone patient interventions. Continuously assessed unit and organization performance improving initiatives, to insure evidenced-based quality patient care. Provided specialized workshops as required; Chemotherapy Resource Group and Advanced Cardiology Education sessions. Functioned in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to insure complex patient care requirements were adequately provided Unit Manager, Surgical Care Unit, Managed the resources for a 35 bed General Surgical/Cardiology-Renal unit. Successfully restructured the unit's patient care delivery system to increase the satisfaction of internal and external customers. Implemented solutions related to unit practice issues, which resulted in successful JACHO and DCRA surveys. Facilitated interdisciplinary involvement through ongoing communication with Surgical and Cardiology Medical Directors. Provided for continuous education activities to insure staff competency. Continuously reviewed and analyzed unit and individual performance to identify opportunities for providing and improving cost efficient quality care. Hospital for Sick Children, Washington, D.C. Performance Improvement/Infection Control Coordinator,
5 Developed department and unit based performance improvement plans, including infection control, surveillance and prevention plans based on JCAHO standards and APIC guidelines. Reviewed and analyzed performance data and developed guidelines for process improvement. Provided on-going education on nursing practice changes, including infection control standards. Job responsibilities also included management of the PRN pool: recruitment and selection, continuing education and performance evaluations.
