We invite you to discover the untouched islands of this region in the relaxed atmosphere of a traditional dhoni, the typical Maldivian wooden boat. Private Picnic on a Desert Island If you think you have found peace and tranquillity on Soneva Fushi, then prepare yourself for the ultimate Robinson Crusoe experience. The bounds of civilization no longer exist and a deserted island is yours for a day. Our boat will deliver you to one of the uninhabited islands, unload your picnic basket and leave although we will pick you up later on if you insist! We have three picnic hampers and the menu can be viewed at the Guest Relations Champa or with your Mr/Ms Friday. The menus have many different options, however please let us know if there is something special that we may prepare for you. Private Sunrise with Breakfast on the Sandbank Own the sandbank for a whole morning and experience the sunrise from the comfort of a rattan mat, listening to waves breaking on the shore, inhaling the fresh ocean air and discovering your sixth sense. (Three hundred US dollars per couple) Sunset Cruise by Sailing Dhoni (Private) Enjoy a sunset at sea. We set sail at 6pm by local dhoni with champagne and canapés on board, and cruise at leisure to neighbouring islands. By the light of the moon you will see them in the distance, their shimmering lights illuminating your way, and as the boat cuts its way through the sea you will leave in your wake a glittering path of soft foam and moonlight. 2 Sustainable Fishing at Soneva Fushi To preserve marine ecology is one of our priorities at Soneva Fushi. Hence we would like to create memorable experiences for our guests without harming the environment. If you enjoy fishing or would like to try something new, then this could be for you. Our dhoni, the local wooden boat, is fully equipped with rods and lures for casting and trolling, setting sail before the sun rises. Enjoy the views as we cruise through Baa Atoll, with breakfast served on board as we sail. We would like to advise you that one fish per person of a set size may be kept, and any other fish caught during this wonderful experience must be released. (Five hundred US dollars per couple) Private Sandbank Overnight Experience Spend a romantic night under the vast Maldivian skies on your own private sandbank in a luxuriously comfortable tent, complete with bathroom facilities. Sip cocktails and enjoy canapes as the sun sets, whilst listening to the gentle waves of the Indian Ocean lapping on the shore. Cocktails are followed by a candlelit dinner, with breakfast delivered by boat to complete the experience. (Two thousand US dollars per couple) Romantic Sunbathing on the Sandbank Whenever you feel like getting away from it all and having a relaxing time on your own, hop on our boat and let us take you to the sandbank in front of Soneva Fushi. It will be all yours for two hours! While soak up the sun, we provide light refreshment for your enjoyment. After meeting with you, our executive chef will design a bespoke menu to suit your heart s desire. 4 other excursions Eydhafushi Island by dhoni Visit the capital island of Baa Atoll with its mosques, hospital, school, cemetery and other significant sights to gain a little more insight into the local culture by watching the people at work, rest and play. Watch how they build their houses and the traditional dhoni boats, prepare their food, relax in their jolies, the woven chairs, or play football. The population is about 2500, and the famous Maldivian hospitality will soon become apparent; as you walk around you will be greeted by many friendly faces. Please observe the dress code as detailed in the A-Z compendium. (Sixty US dollars per person) Maalhos Island by dhoni Maalhos is a small traditional fishing island with only 500 inhabitants. Visit the only palm tree with six baby palms growing within its canopy, listen to the locals sit and chatter about the day s fishing in the shade of the trees, and take your holiday photos of Soneva Fushi from across the water. (Sixty US dollars per person) Visit Kudarikilu Island to see the museum Kudarikilu is a small traditional fishing island with only 500 inhabitants. Listen to the locals sit and chatter about the day s fishing in the shade of the trees. This is one of the few traditional museums in the Maldives. On the local islands, you can gain an impression of the Maldivian islander s culture and every-day lives; see the mosque, school, boat-building areas, chat to some of the locals and enjoy the classic Maldivian lunch in Malhos Island. After dazzling experience of local lunch, our boat captain will take you to one of the attractive reef for snorkelling. (Four hundred US dollars per couple) Sunset dolphin safari Can there be a more fascinating and beautiful scenario during your tropical holiday than watching dozens of playful dolphins in the light of the setting sun? Dolphins are regular visitors in the waters near Soneva Fushi, and sightings are almost guaranteed. While you cruise in the deeper waters on a dhoni, the traditional Maldivian boat, you will be served canapés and champagne.
