VETE Service in NSLHD consists of experienced vocational rehabilitation specialists co-located with clinical mental health teams. The VETE Consultants meet with consumers to identify their interests in vocational education, training and employment. The goal is to support consumers to progress towards achieving competitive employment and/or vocational training. Through discussion and occasionally using formal questionnaires, VETE Consultants gather information including employment history, work skills, aptitudes, labour market statistics and work interests to develop suitable and realistic vocational directions. Consumers are then supported to link with TAFE or a suitable disability employment service provider to achieve their goals.
