In 2012, the population in China stood at 1.35 billion, of which, 52.6% of the residents live in urban area The development of different regions varies across the country due to various factors such as availability of natural resources and government support. 12 US$ billion Foreign trade - Export and import Export and import value in China were US$ 2,049 billion (+7.9% yoy) and US$ 1,818 billion (+4.3% yoy) in 2012, respectively Among the five regions, East and South China exported the most and reached US$ 787 billion and US$ 691 billion, respectively; while North China imported the most and amounted to US$ 657 billion It is noteworthy that the total trade value of West China and Central China grew at the fastest rates of 32.2% and 19.3% yoy, respectively.
