This project demonstrates how Battelle s CO 2 storage and utilization expertise developed over the last 15 years is being used in a country with very rapidly growing CO 2 emissions. 10
11 Subsurface Resource Management The Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA) Subsurface oilfield brine disposal study for RPSEA, a program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and managed by the National Energy Technology Laboratory. U.S. Department of Energy and World Bank Systematic assessment of wellbore integrity for geologic carbon storage using regulatory and industry information with the goal of helping stakeholders understand and mitigate risk factors associated with the use of CO 2 in enhanced oil recovery and storage in geologic formations. Additional funding and collaborative support is being provided by the oil and gas industry. Wastewater Treatment Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Identification of wastewater treatment technologies that are suitable for use in Ohio. The technologies will increase water reuse and decrease injection of wastewater into disposal wells associated with shale gas drilling and production activities in the Marcellus and Utica Shale Regions. 11
