Chemotherapies used to treat CaO have little impact on the prognosis of advanced-stage disease, and the current first-line gold-standard, a heavily generic chemotherapy regimen, is yet to be challenged by new therapy approvals. The unmet need in CaO offers significant opportunity to drug developers, particularly those developing targeted agents; no such agents have yet reached the CaO armamentarium.
