1 El Arte Spanish 4 Por: Paige, Laura. Kailyn, Quayree, & Christian Welcome to Spanish 4 El Arte section of the year. In this unit you will be exploring the different aspects of art. You will get to look at different famous paintings by artists like Pablo Picasso and Velazquez. Paintings like Las Meninas will be shown to you. Not only will you just be looking at the painting you will also get to examine the picture. You will learn how to name things in the picture by saying right and left and center (izquierda, derecha, y centro). In this unit you will get a chance to draw your own selfportrait and present it to the class, explaining each part of it by using the vocabulary taught to you. The rest of this packet will explain in detail to you exactly what you will be doing in the unit El Arte.
2 Lorem Ipsum In this unit of El Arte you will learn many different types of adjectives and nouns. You will use them to describe the famous works that you will learn about but you will not only describe what they look like but what they mean as well. You will need to learn the meanings of the following words for describing the meaning, look, and feeling of the arte you will see: 1. Derecha 2. Esquierda 3. Fondo 4. Primer plano 5. Formas 6. Apagados 7. Tono The art you will learn about is extremely unique and very famous and analyzed and it will be your job in this unit to bring new perspective to these paintings. This unit will teach you to see something someone else hasn t and give it a new look or new face. 3 Famous artists By Kailyn Reilly 3 (Guernica) When learning about el arte, some of the famous artist you will learn about are... Pablo Picasso Picasso is one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20 th century. He is a Spanish expatriate painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and stage designer. Also, Picasso was known as the creator of Cubism and created the famous painting known as Guernica. Diego Velázquez Velázquez is a Spanish painter known for traditional themes and became renowned later on for his realistic style of painting. Velázquez produced a famous portrait known as Las Meninas which we will discuss heavily in class. Francisco de Goya Known as the father of modern art, painted royal portraits as well as more subversive works. Also, Goya created works that criticized the social and political problems of his era. One of the paintings of his that you will learn about in class is Charles IV of Spain and His Family. (To the left: Las Meninas) (To the right: Charles IV of Spain and His Family)
