3 Introduction The purpose of this document is to be circulated to the Distributors of Addvalue Communications on the new G3 Fax service for SKIPPER 150. Product Overview The SKIPPER 150 FleetBroadband (FB) satellite communications terminal is designed to focus on small and mid-sized commercial marine, fishing and leisure vessels. Its high performance makes communications easier for the Captains and crew members to talk, SMS, fax and around the world. With a fast data speed of 150kbps, you can now receive full colour weather images, navigational charts, maintenance information and browse the internet with ease. In addition, you are now able to send reports, regulatory and management information via the internet while simultaneously making phone calls or sending faxes. 3

4 General Feature The G3 Fax is a newly launched service from Inmarsat for SKIPPER 150 (Class 14 FleetBroadband). Beside voice, fax is an essential and important service for fishing vessels. For fishermen, it is the basic communication tool for sending catch reports and communicating to their headquarters. The Fax service for SKIPPER 150 will only be functional upon activation. To enable this service, an Activation PIN number is required and has to be purchased from Addvalue Communications Pte Ltd. The G3 Fax service is only applied to SKIPPER 150 firmware (FW) version or higher. For existing customers with older FW version, it is a mandatory to upgrade it. 4

5 Technical Setup ** Please refer to G3 Fax Application Notes for detailed Technical Setup. Activating of G3 Fax Service Ensure that the FW version is or higher and you have obtained the Activation PIN number. Proceed to enable and activate the G3 Fax service. Login to the web console and navigate to Settings>Admin>Feature to activate the G3 Fax service. Enter the activation PIN of 16 characters purchased from Addvalue Communications and click the Activate button. Rebooting of the terminal is required for the Fax service to take effect. 5

6 Port Configuration Navigate to Telephony>Port Configuration. By default, the settings for the RJ11 port (before fax service is activated) are configured as follows: - Incoming Call: Standard voice call - Outgoing Call: Standard voice call Upon the fax service is activated, the service type of Incoming Call will automatically change to 3.1 khz high quality voice/fax call (as illustrated below). Service type for Outgoing Call remains as Standard voice call. Warning: Usually, it is uncommon for user to use the 3.1 khz high quality voice to make outgoing voice call as the cost for high quality voice is so much higher than the standard voice call. 6
