2 9339HS VoIP Phone Quick Start Up Guide The 9339HS VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) Phone provides a cost-saving solution for small business/home users telecommunication needs. This phone is designed in a user-friendly way and is very easy to operate. It complies with the SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) protocol open standard, which can be easily used with most existing VoIP services. With the built in LCD display, the user can easily configure the VoIP Phone for first time installation in a few minutes. Moreover, the 9339HS also provides rich telephone features such as a phone book, speed dials, call history, last number redial, call forward, transfer, volume adjustment and speakerphone etc. It is your best VoIP solution for new generation communication. 2/16
3 Installation Step 1:Unpack the phone VoIP Phone Handset Power Adaptor (Use only Power Supplies listed in the user instructions) Network cable Handset Cord 3/16
4 Step 2:Connection Connect the handset to the phone body with the handset cord by plugging it into the jack on the left hand side of phone. Connect the Headset if necessary. Connect the network cable to the WAN port, such as NAT, HUB and ADSL for broadband connection. If you would like to have PC online at the same time, please connect the PC port to your PC using another network (RJ45) cable. Plug in the AC power adaptor to the electrical outlet and connect to the DC 6V jack. (Important: Do not interrupt this process by unplugging the power or lifting the receiver on your phone during the startup process. Interruption of start up may result in interruption of the service. Wait until the indicators and backlight stop blinking before setup.) 4/16
5 Step 3:Booting Up After the power is connected, the phone will boot up automatically. The LCD will display as below: L o a d i n g P r o g r a m! All LED indicators and LCD backlight ON and blink once. I n i t i a l i z e d I P P H O N E B o o t u p.... The LCD will automatically update the date and time. The format is shown below: M M - D D h h : m m N o s e r v i c E MM Month DD Day hh hour mm minutes Wait approximately 10 seconds the unit is ready to configure the phone. Default Setting: WAN Port set to DHCP client mode; NAT is enabled and PC Port set to DHCP server mode. If the network cable has not been connected or if there is no NAT, HUB and ADSL on line, the LCD will display as below: : 0 0 E t h e r N e t E r r o r! 5/16
6 Configuration Note: Press MENU key to enter the sub-menu and press ENTER Key to confirm. If you need to go back to main menu, press MENU to return. By Keypad The VoIP Phone can be configured by keypad easily. Almost all the configurations can be done through the keypad and LCD screen display on the phone set in a few seconds. In order to make a VoIP call, please do the configurations through the keypad and check the VoIP Phone status as below: MENU 4 Network 5 Status ENTER the LCD will show as below: W X X X. X X X. X X X. X X X L Where W represents the WAN Port IP Address; L represents the PC port IP Address. Then press DOWN Key once, the LCD will show as below: W X X X. X X X. X X X. X X X M A C : C A Notice: When you need to input a character in any menu item, please press that key button quickly to switch between different characters to set the correct one. 6/16
7 Network Configuration The first thing in using the VoIP Phone is to set the network configuration to let the VoIP Phone connect to Internet. Depending on your network environment and VoIP phone, please use the proper method to configure the VoIP Phone to connect Internet. Dynamic IP Method (DHCP) Most of the network environment in an office, in a hotel room or at home is under a NAT (Network address translation) IP sharing device/router device. In this environment, the easiest way to connect to Internet is using the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) method. Using this method, the 9339HS will get the IP parameters dynamically and connect to Internet automatically. Most cable modem connections also use this DHCP method. Under the DHCP setting submenu, please key in the DNS server settings provided by the ISP. Step1: MENU 4 Network 1 WAN Setup 1 IP client type 2 DHCP ENTER to activate Step 2: MENU 4 Network 3 DNS 1 Primary DNS Key in the number, which provided by the ISP 2 Secondary DNS Key in the number, which provided by the ISP PPPoE Method Most of the broadband network environment provided by ISPs (Internet service provider) is on ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) connections. Under this environment, the VoIP Phone can be directly connected to the ADSL modem by setting PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) account details (user name and password) provided by ADSL service provider, please follow below. 8 Step 2: MENU 4 Network 1 WAN Setup 3 PPPoE setting 1 User name input the user name of the account provided by the ADSL ISP 2 Password input the user name of the account provided by the ADSL ISP Fixed IP Method For other network environments, users will need to set the static IP provided by their ISP or from the IT administrator at office. Under the Fixed IP setting submenu, please key in the IP host, Network mask, Gateway IP and DNS Server settings provided by your ISP, or private IP address. Step 1: MENU 4 Network 1 WAN Setup 1 IP client type 1 Fixed IP ENTER to activate Step 2: MENU 4 Network 1 WAN Setup 2 Fixed IP setup 1 IP Address Key in the number, which provided by the ISP 2 Subnet mask Key in the number, which provided by the ISP 3 Default G-way Key in the number, which provided by the ISP Step 3: MENU 4 Network 3 DNS 1 Primary DNS Key in the number, which provided by the ISP 2 Secondary DNS Key in the number, which provided by the ISP Once all the network settings are completed, please restart your VoIP Phone. Then you are able to check whether your Internet connection is working properly or not by going to network status. 8/16
9 Registration to Proxy Server After the network environment has been set and the VoIP Phone is connected to Internet, you can register the VoIP Phone to the SIP Proxy server by the account from your VoIP vendor/operator. Please choose one of the following methods to register to a gatekeeper or proxy server. Set up the VoIP Phone by Web Browser The default of the 9339 VoIP Phone is: NAT is enabled, WAN port is in DHCP client Mode and PC Port is in DHCP Server Mode. When you connect a computer to the PC port, you will get an IP Address from the VoIP Phone. Make sure that your computer is set to Obtain an IP Address Automatically. The VoIP Phone provides a built-in web server. You can use the web browser to configure the VoIP Phone. First please input the IP address in the Web page. Please remember to add the port number :9999. Login Step 1: Input the username and password into the blank field. The default setting is: For Administrator, the username is: setup; and the password is: test. If you use this account login, you can configure all the settings. For normal user, the username is: user; and the password is: If you use this account login, you cannot configure the SIP settings. 9/16
10 System Information Step 2: Click the Login button will move to web based System Information page. The Model Name, Firmware version and Codec Version are displayed. Also, you can see the function lists in the left side and navigate for further set up. Step 3: If you changed the setting(s) in the Web Management interface, please do remember to click the Submit button in that page. After you have finished changing the setting(s), click the Save Changes function in the left side, and click the Save Change Key. After the system restarts, all the settings have been saved and become effective. 10/16
11 Setting the Network From the left-hand side menu bar, click Network, then WAN Settings. Here, you can select the IP Type such as Fixed IP, DHCP Client and PPPoE. Enter the relevant information provided by your ISP. Fixed IP: Step 1: Select the Fixed IP checkbox. Step 2: Fill in the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2 which provided by the ISP. Step 3: Click the Submit button in that page when you finished the settings, click Save Changes on the left side, and click the Save Change Button. Then, the system will reboot the VoIP Phone and all settings will be saved and effective. 11/16
12 DHCP Client: : Step 1: Select the DHCP Client checkbox. Step 2: Fill in the DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2 which provided by the ISP. Step 3: Click the Submit button in that page when you have finished entering the settings. Click Save Changes on the left side, and click the Save Change Button. Then, the system will reboot the VoIP Phone and all settings will be saved and effective. 12/16
13 PPPoE: Step 1: Select the PPPoE checkbox. Step 2: Fill in the User Name, Password and Service Name (if required), which were provided by the ADSL ISP. Step 3: Click the Submit button in that page when you finished the settings, click Save Changes on the left side, and click the Save Change Button. Then, the system will reboot the VoIP Phone and all settings will be saved and effective. 13/16
14 Setting Date and Time Step 1: MENU 3 Phone Setting 4 Date/Time 2 SNTP Setting 1 SNTP 2 - Disable ENTER to activate Step 2: MENU 3 Phone Setting 4 Date/Time 1 Date & Time Enter the Date and Time (in the format of Year-Month-Day Hour:Minutes) Step 3: MENU 3 Phone Setting 4 Date/Time 2 SNTP Setting 4 GMT time zone Enter appropriated time zone to activate Call Functions Making Calls To make a call, users can pick up the handset, dial the party s number that wish to call. An alternative way to make a call is to press the number, then pick up the handset or press HANDSFREE/HEADSET key at the down left corner to make the call. Receiving Calls When a call is incoming and the VoIP Phone is ringing, to receive this call, just pick up the handset or press HANDSFREE/HEADSET key to answer. Check call history (Incoming calls/ Dialled numbers) The call history can be displayed on the LCD screen by pressing the submenu and then key or key when the VoIP Phone is in idle state. There are two kinds of call history: The call history will show in <Call Number> MM-DD hh:mm (V/M) format. The last digit V represents the answered incoming call while M represents the unanswered incoming calls. Incoming calls is the record of numbers and time of last 64 incoming calls when answered or unanswered. 14/16
15 Dialled numbers is the record of numbers and time of last 64 successful dialled numbers. When viewing the number of any call history, you can pick up the handset or press HANDSFREE/HEADSET Key to dial out. Or you can press ENTER key to do the following actions: 1. Press 1 Save to save the number into the PHONE BOOK 2. Press 2 Erase to delete the record Auto Redial Press REDIAL to dial the last number dialled in Handsfree/Headset mode. Pick up the handset, press REDIAL Key to dial the last number dialled. Call Forward You can set the call forward functions through keypad or web configurations. Phone Book and Speed Dial Users are able to store 140 phone numbers from Phone Book. Users can use the PHONE BOOK by the following methods. Press Phone Book Key, the display will show Search by name, enter the name and press ENTER, then the relevant phone list will be shown and search by or keys Or MENU 1 Phone book 1 Search ENTER to search MENU 1 Phone book 2 Add entry ENTER to add the name and number MENU 1 Phone book 3 Speed dial ENTER to number Press Speed dial keys M1~M10 to store MENU 1 Phone book 4 Erase all Select 1 Yes to erase all phone book and speed dial memories or select 2 No to cancel. After the speed dial items M1-M10 were set, user can make speed dial call by directly pressing the M1-M10 key when the phone picked up or Handsfree/Headset Mode. 15/16
