By identifying and correcting the reasons for disposal they collectively avoided more than 400 tons of pre-consumer food waste, equivalent to 62 elephants. at the initial 50 pilot locations and assisted verizon in attaining leed certification at some of these. We expect similar results at the over 1,100 locations we are currently managing for verizon. SMART Sustainability Management and Reporting Tool sodexo is promoting efficiency at 500 client accounts with our proprietary SMART (Sustainability Management and Reduction Tool) dashboard that allows managers to track sustainability performance. From a library of 125 best practices, smart generates a customized sustainability action plan for each account.

Program results indicate that participants are losing significant weight. 16 million children Through Sodexo Foundation, we are making a difference in the lives of some of the 16 million children in the U.S. that struggle with hunger. All of our produce distributors in North America are required to source local products and many carry more than from local farms. Sourcing from contracted local suppliers allows us to provide a consistent market for local farmers to sustain their business and communities. In 2013, 1 million pounds of coffee of their produce purchased in North America was fairly traded, promoting more sustainable environments and healthier communities where coffee is grown.
