1 UBIS Study Abroad Program Program Description: The UBIS Bachel in Administration (BBA) provides students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills f a career in the private sect in all domains, either within a large multilateral cpation, in a small structure. Thanks to the international dimension that UBIS curriculum provides, students gain a broad knowledge of international communications and of socio-economic relations across all sects of society. Program Outline: In der to earn a Bachel of Administration (BBA), students must complete 120 credit hours as listed in the syllabus below. 5 Page5 Finance & Marketing & Course Description Course Code MRKT Principles of Marketing and Advertising Course Description MRKT 319 provides an overview of the field of marketing to give students an awareness of the institutions and methods employed in the marketing of goods and services. Discussions cover such topics as marketing strategies, opptunity and environmental analysis, new product development, and pricing. Different types of advertising media and their adaptation to various types of business activities are reviewed. MRKT Marketing SOCI Cross-cultural MGMT Organizational MRKT 324 deals with various differences in cultural, economic and legal facts as they related to the marketing process. This is systematic treatment marketing on a global scale, extending basic principles into feign requirements. SOCI 233 introduces students to basic concepts in cross-cultural communications and increases one s awareness of how culture plays a role in our dealings with others. It examines the ways in which misunderstandings arise in both verbal and non-verbal communication processes. The course also looks at the multicultural issues within a single culture, such as those relating to gender geography. Cultural values and styles related to difference settings will be discussed in an attempt to increase awareness of how expectations play a part in understanding persons of differing cultures. MGMT 305 examines written and al communication in business. Topics include: effective ganization and writing of crespondence, memanda, repts, research proposals; interpersonal communication with fellow wkers and superviss; planning, conducting and participating in meetings and al presentation. MGMT Managerial Accounting and Financial Analysis MGMT Banking and Finance MGMT 315 covers the basic principles of accounting and financial management as they relate to managerial decision-making. Financial statement and annual rept analysis, cash budgeting, capital management, long-term financing and financial fecasting are some of the topics covered. Prerequisite ACCT101. MGMT 420 is designed to give the student an overview of international banking and finance. Topics covered include the international dimensions of finance, feign exchange rates, international sources of funds, international banking regulations, and the contrast between European, Asian, and American Banking.
6 Page6 FINAL Operation MGMT MGMT 303 provides a survey of international business management in the context of the increasing economic interdependence of nations. Theies of international business are examined in conjunction with strategic planning, intercultural facts, feign management techniques, and political risk analysis. The activities of multinational enterprises in home and host countries are also examined. MGMT 235 BUS Law MGMT 235 provides students with an understanding of the global economy and its impact on business within the United States. Included are an analysis of the impact of various political systems on business; the effects of culture on business style; the role and size of international trade; the management of multinational cpations; the impact of trade restraints and liberalization; and balancing legal, political, and ethical issues in international business techniques BUS 301 introduces the student to the principles of public and private international law. It addresses the legal problems of doing business in developed, developing and non-market countries, together with the economic and political issues that commonly arise. MGMT Human Resources MGMT 417 surveys the principles and methods of effectively managing people at wk. It includes the recruitment, selection, development, utilization of, and accommodation of people by ganizations. Employee motivation and contempary personnel management issues are examined in terms of the impact they have on ganization effectiveness, goal attainment, health and viability, and overall perfmance. MGMT Operations & Project MGMT 427 examines the direction and control of processes that convert resources into goods and services. It deals with the broad areas of system design, operation, and control. Further, it focuses on the definition, planning, implementation, and evaluation of discrete projects. CAPSTONE PROJECT At the beginning of their studies, students will choose be assigned to a research topic f their thesis research project. Each student will wk closely with a research advis. During the duration of their studies at UBIS, they will wk on their Research Project and are encouraged to apply assignments and infmation from their classes to the development of their research plan. The research wk may be either internal external (e.g., in the framewk of an internship at the student s wkplace).
