1 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING MILWAUKEE AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND CARDINAL STRITCH UNIVERSITY This articulation agreement establishes a cooperative relationship between Cardinal Stritch University (Stritch) and Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) that will assist both schools in better serving the educational needs of transfer students. The agreement sets fth policies and procedures by which MATC students may become eligible to enroll in bachels programs offered through the College of Business and Management (CBM) at Stritch. The transfer policies described herein will be in effect upon date of signature f MATC graduates with completion dates from May The agreement will be renewed at five-year intervals, with content changes as deemed appropriate by the parties. Stritch will administer this agreement accding to the procedures cited in Part D. Note: Stritch reserves the right to make policy revisions, which may affect the contents of this agreement due to changes in the curriculum quality standards at either institution. 3 PART B CORE/GENERAL EDUCATION TRANSFER GUIDE (BS) Cardinal Stritch University s Ce Curriculum is rooted in the liberal arts and the Franciscan intellectual tradition. It is designed to create a framewk to develop knowledge, skills, and responsibilities necessary to educate students so that they can make contributions to the wld guided by a concern f issues of justice and ethical behavi. The Ce Curriculum has three main goals: 1. the cultivation of intellectual and practical skills (what students should be able to do), 2. the demonstration of personal and social responsibilities (what students believe), and 3. the acquisition of knowledge (what students should know). The common Ce consists of coursewk aligned to the categies below. Total credits f the Ce should equal at least 33 credits. SKILLS (9 credits) Written Communication one course in research-based composition Oral Communication one course in public, interpersonal, group speech Mathematics one course in math above intermediate algebra RESPONSIBILITY (6 credits) Franciscan Heritage & Values SEM 103 (MGT 306 substituting as of 7/14), must be taken at Stritch Mal & Ethical Reasoning one course in ethics KNOWLEDGE (18 credits) Aesthetic Values one course in fine arts, music, literature Physical & Natural Wld one course in physical biological sciences (lab non-lab) Spiritual Understanding one course in religious studies Human Societies two courses, one from each grouping below Psychology/Sociology/Economics/Political Science Histy/Literature Ce Elective [+ One] one additional course from any categy Cultural Awareness met by transfer completion of a course above containing multicultural content Due to individual variations in how MATC general education requirements are met, transfer results will vary. The following guide identifies MATC general education courses that will satisfy ce requirements and is intended to be used f course planning at the associate level. Coursewk not applied to a specific Ce competency will transfer within a block of elective credits. A grade of C- better is needed f the course to fulfill the specified requirement. 7 PART C MAJOR REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY BSBA The Bachel of Science in Business Administration is an upper division undergraduate degree program that offers students an opptunity to blend their personal and professional experiences with quantitative and qualitative coursewk. The program is designed to suppt students in their quest to wk effectively in an increasingly complex business environment and includes the skill sets related to the administration of a business enterprise. Those skill sets include critical thinking, ethical decision making and problem solving, and the analysis and evaluation of economic, financial, and statistical data. The BSBA degree program culminates in a capstone course, which enables students to integrate the learned skill sets with business they. In the capstone course, students develop an overall strategic ganizational plan, which involves the design, fmulation, and management of business policies and strategies f change. Students in the BSBA degree program progress by taking one course at a time in a designated sequence. Courses are offered in an accelerated fmat designed to meet the needs of adult learners. Students wk in project teams that increase their learning opptunities, serve as a suppt system, and allow them to evaluate diverse solutions to typical business challenges. During the first course in the program, all students complete a joint community service project that allows them to learn to function in a team, deepens their appreciation of their civic duties and responsibilities, and demonstrates the Franciscan values that are inherent to the mission of Cardinal Stritch University. BSBA graduates gain the skills needed to recommend alternative solutions to business challenges and opptunities, as well as the ability to communicate those solutions effectively. The BSBA consists of 42 credits in the maj suppted by 12 credits of prerequisite coursewk. Students who have previously completed the related upper-division requirement will be automatically waived from the prerequisite. In the capstone course, students examine and analyze leadership perfmances and strategies that help shape the overall culture and effectiveness of an ganization. Students in the BSM degree program progress by taking one course at a time in a designated sequence. Courses are offered in an accelerated fmat designed to meet the needs of adult learners. Students wk in project teams that increase their learning opptunities, serve as a suppt system, and allow them to evaluate diverse solutions to typical business challenges. During the first course in the program, all students complete a joint community service project that allows them to learn to function in a team, deepens their appreciation of their civic duties and responsibilities, and demonstrates the Franciscan values that are inherent to the mission of Cardinal Stritch University. Because the BSM degree program emphasizes both they and practical applications in the areas of communication, human behavi, leadership, and conflict resolution, a BSM graduate is wellsuited to positions involving the management and supervision of people, a critical element in the achievement of ganizational goals. 11 PART C MAJOR REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY BSSMIS The Bachel of Science in Strategic Management of Infmation Systems program emphasizes the strategies involved in managing technology and the infmation that it generates. The program includes courses which provide a basic management foundation, including such areas as critical thinking, leadership, and accounting and financial techniques. It also emphasizes specific areas related to the technology field, such as database management, systems analysis and design, and enterprise resource planning. The program culminates in a capstone course, which enables students to integrate the skill sets learned throughout the degree program. In the capstone course, students examine and analyze the strategic role that technology plays in helping an ganization maintain its competitiveness and meet the challenges of the 21 st century. Students in the BSSMIS degree program progress by taking one course at a time in a designated sequence. Courses are offered in an accelerated fmat designed to meet the needs of adult learners. Students wk in project teams that increase their learning opptunities, serve as a suppt system, and allow them to evaluate diverse solutions to typical business challenges. During the first course in the program, all students complete a joint community service project that allows them to learn to function in a team, deepens their appreciation of their civic duties and responsibilities, and demonstrates the Franciscan values that are inherent to the mission of Cardinal Stritch University. A graduate of the BSSMIS degree program is well-positioned to manage the infmation technology processes and solutions that have become an integral part of an ganization s overall business strategies, as well as to facilitate communication and strategic planning between the technology side of an enterprise and those who consume its products. 13 PART C MAJOR REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY BSHSM The Bachel of Science in Human Services Management is designed f those students who want to acquire the management skills necessary f use in the human services industry, whether not-f-profit f-profit. Students learn wide-ranging but detailed concepts that include ethical and legal issues, communications, finance and budgeting, fundraising, and community resource development. The overarching theme in each course, however, is application of these concepts into the overall management of a human services ganization. Upon completion of the entire course sequence, students complete a capstone course focused on human services strategies. During the capstone course, students complete a maj paper and an al presentation which demonstrates the integration of material from previous coursewk in the degree program. The paper and presentation are based on a typical challenge opptunity found in a human services ganization. Students in the BSHSM degree program progress by taking one course at a time in a designated sequence. Courses are offered in an accelerated fmat designed to meet the needs of adult learners. Students wk in project teams that increase their learning opptunities, serve as a suppt system, and allow them to evaluate diverse solutions to typical business challenges. During the first course in the program, all students complete a joint community service project that allows them to learn to function in a team, deepens their appreciation of their civic duties and responsibilities, and demonstrates the Franciscan values that are inherent to the mission of Cardinal Stritch University. 15 PART D ARTICULATION POLICIES & PROCEDURES 1. This articulation agreement is based upon Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) requirements f the associate degrees listed in Part A. A 2.0 cumulative GPA at associate degree completion is required f this articulation to be in effect. Without degree completion, MATC courses will be evaluated on an individual course-bycourse basis, and some courses accepted through this agreement may not be accepted, per Stritch transfer credit policies. 2. The articulation agreement applies toward admission to and completion of the Bachel of Science (BS) degrees offered by the College of Business & Management of Cardinal Stritch University at all locations via on-ground on-line delivery systems. 3. In der to be admitted into the Bachel of Science degree program, students must have: a) Two years of full-time wk experience post-high school, including exposure to the functions of management: planning, ganizing, staffing, directing, and/ controlling. Volunteer military experience may be included. 4. The number of semester credits which may be applied through the agreement per degree is: 63 cr. any A.A., A.S., A.A.S. degree Business related degrees may transfer additional credits up to the amount needed to complete the associate degree and based on evaluations of equivalent course and/ program outcomes. See Part C f specific course waivers and equivalencies. A minimum of 120 credits is required f Bachel of Science degree completion with a cumulative GPA of Some students may earn me than 120 total credits in completing the BS degree, based on individual transcript variations. 5. Entering students who have successfully completed MATC general education courses with a grade of C- better may apply them toward satisfying Stritch Ce requirements as specified in Part B of the transfer guide. Similarly, courses deemed equivalent to maj prerequisite requirements and earning a grade of C better may be applied to the maj. All other MATC courses completed, regardless of grade, transfer as a block of elective credit. 6. Entering students are required to complete all credits in the maj, any assigned prerequisites, and all other requirements listed in Part C to receive a Stritch Bachel of Science degree. A minimum of 30 credits must be completed in the maj to meet Stritch academic residency requirements. 15

16 7. Upon individual assessment, the terms and intent of this agreement may be extended to include degrees identified in Part A that were completed pri to the designated completion date. 8. This articulation agreement will be in effect from the date of approval and may be applied to students who completed the associate degree identified in Part A on after the date specified. Review and renewal of this agreement will be made at five-year intervals. Officials identified in #12 will be notified f the purpose of review and renewal. 9. Stritch reserves the right to make policy curricular changes that could affect the contents of this agreement. 10. Stritch and MATC may seek to jointly develop material and processes to promote this agreement. Stritch reserves the rights to review promotional materials used. 11. No financial implication concerning the transfer exchange of cash, equipment, real estate is intended implied by this agreement. Stritch and MATC are separate and independent institutions and intend to remain so. 12.
