1 PROFESSOR ROGAYAH JAAFAR MEDICAL EDUCATION, HEALTH PARTNERSHIP UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA hp: Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae: Professor Rogayah Jaafar is a Professor of Medical Education at the School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and was the founding Head of the Department of Medical Education during its inception in She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh Hons) from the University of Cairo, Egypt in 1980, Master of Health Professional Education (MHPEd) from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 1986 and her postgraduate fellowship certificate in Health Leadership Development (ICHLD) from the University of Chicago, Illinois, USA, in Professor Rogayah is married to Professor Zulkifli Ahmad, Deputy Dean of Research and Post Graduate Studies of the School of Dental Sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia and has four children. She initiated the Faculty Development Programme for the School of Medical Sciences, USM, in 1986 and continues to play an active role in faculty development activities. She was responsible in spearheading the Master of Science ( Medical Education) programme at Universiti Sains Malaysia and currently coordinates as well as teaches two modules in the programme: Introduction to Health Professional Education and Faculty & Leadership Development. At the undergraduate (M.D.) and postgraduate (M.Med.) levels, she also teaches the subjects of Women and Health as well as Professional Communication. At the national level, she is currently the President of the Malaysian Association of Education for the Medical and Health Sciences (MAMHS) and is a member of the accreditation panel of the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA), entrusted with the task of the accreditation of medical and health professional programmes of both public and private institutions in Malaysia. Regionally, she holds the presidency of the Asian Pacific Association of Problem Based Learning in the Health Sciences with her election in September 2008.

2 Dr Rogayah is also very active internationally in her work on University Community Partnerships as well as Women s Health with the Network : Toward Unity for Health (Network:TUFH), an international NGO of more than 300 member institutions of health professional institutions in close collaboration with WHO. She became the founding Chairperson of the Women and Health Taskforce of the Network: TUFH in 2003 and spearheaded the development of the Women and Health Teaching Package (WHTP). The WHTP, an e-learning programe package, has gone through a number of revisions and is proving to be a very useful educational tool in the training of more women friendly health professional workers around the world. In appreciation of her efforts in these global initiatives, she was granted honorary membership of the Network:TUFH in 2004 and subsequently elected as its Chairperson in 2006 for a four-year term. She was also appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Global Health through Education, Training and Services, ( GHETS- an international NGO as well as administrative and funding arm of the Network:TUFH) in She had also been a WHO consultant and short-term advisor to Australia (1998) and Iraq (2002). Professor. Rogayah s research interests include curriculum development, problem-based learning, community-based medical education, partnership and leadership development and women s health. She has been involved either individually or in collaboration with colleagues at the school, national and international levels in more than 15 research projects in the medical and health education fields and other related areas such tobacco abuse and women and health. To date, she has published more than 70 articles in peer reviewed journals on various topics in medical and health professional education, tobacco abuse and women and health issues. She is an active member of the editorial and review boards of a number of national journals (MJMS,MMJ, Journal of Health Management Institute, Malaysia ) and international journals (International E- journal on Problem Based Learning and Education for Health the e- journal of the Network :TUFH)
