1 Website Research The sea turtle rescue center is run by Karen Beasley and are committed to the conservation and protection of the all species of sea turtles. The center rescues. Rehabilitates, and releases sea turtles once they are cured. The sea turtle rescue also educates the public on the prevention of causing threats to sea turtle extinction. There are seven types of sea turtles and out of those seven all of them are endangered. Other sites that also rescue turtles are: Recently in the news fishing piers have joined a responsible pier initiative that aims to save the lives of sea turtles that get hooked on anglers lines. Since joining the initiative sea turtles have been rescued at fishing piers with the help of tools and techniques learned from the Marine life Center. The center provides free training, nets, and steps for saving sea turtles without further harm done to them. The piers are having much success on informing the public of endangered sea turtles but also rescuing them from lines and hooks. Website Definition Jennifer Wong The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center The purpose of the website is to raise the awareness of the endangerment of sea turtles but also to raise funds for the organization for the operating costs of the hospital. The website will also provide updates and scientific status s of sea turtles that have been released to learn further about the species. Intended Audience: Fellow sea turtle centers Marine Biologist (sea turtle data) Sea Turtle or Marine activists Marine Biology or zoology students Children Objectives To get more volunteers involved with helping during the rescue and rehabilitations of the sea turtles To raise funds and awareness about the endangerment of sea turtles To learn and track the status of rehabilitated sea turtles and follow migratory routes To receive scientific data to help threatened and endangered sea turtles To raise human awareness to prevent the endangerment of sea turtles

Our mission statement is to conserve and protect all species of marine turtles both in the water and on the beach. We want to inform and educated the public regarding the plight of all sea turtles and the threat of their extinction. But to also provide an experiential learning site for the students of biology, wildlife conservation, and veterinary medicine from around the world. Primary visual: 1. That's a lot to care for. Different diets, and personalities. Different medicines, vitamins and wound care regimes. Continuous monitoring of intake and output, water quality and temperature; flushing and cleaning and redirecting of water pipes. Laundry, laundry, laundry. Our volunteers handle these duties and many more every day, changing hats from feeders and cleaners and medical care givers to ambassadors and educators, administrators and fundraisers. The first volunteers arrive each morning around 7 AM to begin food and medication preparation, followed soon after by a highly dedicated team of folks who will proceed to: Feed each to turtle according to needs and yes, wants. They can be choosy eaters too. Scoop clean each tank Administer to the special needs of each turtle. Refill each tank. Wash, dry, fold and stack towels, repeat, repeat, repeat. Physically prepare the building for visitors in the afternoon. Open to the public Introduce the public to the patients and the facility. Close to the public Clean up, scoop tanks, probably one more thing, go home. It takes many people each day to keep the place running smoothly. It's often difficult and hot work, not to mention dirty and smelly. The rewards are plentiful and where you find them, the look in the turtles eyes, their eager and able return to the sea. Argos currently features 6 satellites that offer global coverage. The satellites themselves are orbiting approximately 900 km above the earth's surface. They all pass over the poles with each orbit and they receive the messages from the transmitter (while they are on the horizon) and calculate a location estimate for the source of the transmissions. In this case, that "source" will be the sea turtles. With this system the turtles can be tracked anywhere he might go for an indefinite period of time. The tag being deployed is powered by a combination of primary batteries and solar cells. It could last for may years, as long as the turtle remains alive and the tag remains intact with the antenna attached. The unit will not only provide location estimates during the turtles travels but will also provide information about the depths of dives that the turtle undergoes. The Loggerhead Sea Turtle comes ashore to nest 3 to 5 times during a nesting year. She deposits an average of 120 eggs per nest. The eggs will incubate in the sand for about 60 days. After all the hatchlings have pipped out of their eggs, they emerge from the nest together and race to the sea. Weighing in at about two ounces, their first challenge on our beach is escaping the deadly grasp of the ghost crabs. Once in the water they must hide from both bird and fish predators, and the swim to sea weed rafts and the Sargasso Sea begins. It is a long swim to maturity. It is estimated that 1 in 1000 survives the first year, and as few as 1 in 5,000-10,000 survive to adulthood. No one has the answer to this. In 20 to 30 years the surviving hatchlings will reach adulthood. The females will return to their natal beaches to lay their eggs and the cycle begins again. 9 Female turtle makes her way to shore to lay her eggs After laying her eggs she returns to the sea 60 days later hatchlings emerge from the sand and try to make it to the sea in seek of shelter from predators.
