WE RE HERE FOR YOU
The Summit Federal Credit Union was founded in 1941 with the underlying principle of People Helping People. We remain true to those traditional credit union values over 67 years later. We exist solely to serve members. We have a completely volunteer Board of Directorscomprised of members. We serve members of all means including the underserved. We do the right thing for members. We have our member s best interests at heart. We focus on People Not Profits. MICHAEL S. VADALA, PRESIDENT AND CEO
HOW WE RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE The Summit Federal Credit Union is focused on Making a Difference in the lives of our members and enriching the communities we serve every single day of the year. We do this through employee volunteer efforts, strong support for charitable organizations, serving the most vulnerable residents in our cities, and by working closely with other credit unions. We will highlight just how The Summit is Making a Difference For Members Through Financial Literacy In The Community For Other Credit Unions Serving The Underserved MICHAEL S. VADALA, PRESIDENT & CEO
FOR MEMBERS... AFFORDABLE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES We care deeply about our members and deliver affordable products/services and great rates to help improve member s lives. FIRST HOME CLUB LOANS The Summit participates in the First Home Club Mortgage Program with the Federal Home Loan Bank offering first-time homebuyers an affordable fixed rate mortgage with special down payment and closing cost assistance. Plus, we waive our normal lender fees & make a contribution to the closing costs. SUMMIT SAVERS 1,000 CLUB The credit union contributes quarterly cash incentives to members accounts over a one-year period to encourage low to moderate income members to develop good savings habits and put away $1,000/year as a safety net. FEE EXEMPTIONS We heavily promote our Relationship Fee Exemption for low income members because we feel it is important that we reduce the financial burden of local residents with this fee waiver. BALANCE SM FINANCIAL FITNESS PROGRAM We offer this professional, confidential money management and counseling service to all of our Summit members free of charge.
THROUGH FINANCIAL LITERACY... BUDGETMANIA! TM We partner with St. Joseph s Villa (a home and a school for at-risk kids in crisis) for an interactive, real-life money management game hosted by Summit staff. FINANCIAL EDUCATION SEMINARS AT MEMBER COMPANIES FREE Lunch and Learn Financial Education seminars are presented to employees at member companies and are available online for members including; Managing Your Finances, Preventing Fraud & Identity Theft, Credit 101, and Buying Your First Home. FIRST TIME HOME BUYER SEMINARS The Summit conducts free in-branch first-time homebuyer seminars on a regular basis in conjunction with our mortgage vendors as well as Summit staff.
IN THE COMMUNITY... PJ ROUNDUP We partner with the Girl Scouts of Western New York to collect new pajamas, slippers, and robes for women and children at area transitional, homeless, and battered shelters. Nearly 4,500 items were collected during the first two years of the program. UNITED WAY/DAY OF CARING Beyond generous employee contributions through payroll deduction, the staff has donated time, talent, and resources for the Day of Caring for many years along with participation in many other fundraising activities. EVERY STEP WALK We partner with fellow Buffalo credit unions to raise significant funds for universal newborn screening benefiting The Hunter s Hope Foundation.
FOR OTHER CREDIT UNIONS... PROGRESSIVE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION PARTNERSHIP The Summit provides extensive volunteer staff support in Marketing, HR, and Collections and more to this Community Development Credit Union; serve as counsel for their ALM Committee, sit on the Board of the Friends of Progressive fundraising organization, and even teaches their Progressive Ways to Better Credit courses. SURCHARGE-FREE ATM PARTNERSHIPS The Summit allows other credit unions and even select banks to access our ATM s surchargefree. We simply ask them to waive surcharges for our members in return. BRANCH SHARING We belong to the nationwide CU Service Centers network of credit union branches allowing our members to use out-of-market branches seamlessly and without fees while welcoming members or other credit unions to use our branches. ROCHESTER & ERIE/NIAGARA CREDIT UNION COOPERATIVE ADVERTISING We conducted multi-media cooperative advertising campaigns with fellow credit unions in Rochester and Buffalo to educate potential members about the safety and soundness of credit unions while describing the many benefits of membership.
SERVING THE UNDERSERVED... UNDERSERVED CHARTERS We provide affordable products/services to low and moderate income members in the City of Rochester, City of Buffalo, City of Geneva, Town of Henrietta, and Town of Amherst through our branches, ATM s and financial education programs. C.A.S.H PROGRAM Summit employees and Volunteers participate in the United Way C.A.S.H Program (Creating Assets, Savings & Hope) assisting low to moderate income residents with free tax preparation, financial counseling and more. In addition, we opened hundreds of new accounts for the previously unbanked, more than all other local banks combined. WHEELS FOR WORK PROGRAM This program helps people in the Catholic Family Center s Welfare to Work program by providing low cost used vehicles for people to use for work, plus The Summit provides affordable financing for these vehicles.
