Measurements and visual keys are the foundation for creating a custom pants pattern. Members of the class will receive a visual fit chart on which Kathy will analyze and record the changes needed to create a custom fit. Kathy will demonstrate taking correct measurements as class members work in pairs to complete their individual measurement charts. Using 1/2 scale patterns, practice the fitting changes outlined in the personal analysis to create your very own custom pant pattern. Students have the opportunity to try on fitting muslins to help determine the best starting size. These muslins are used to determine which adjustments are necessary to achieve a perfect fit. Learn how to make the necessary changes to the pattern which is then used to cut out a customized muslin and adjusted pattern that is ready to cut out and sew. Please bring your own sewing machine to class. 20H10_TH A Day to Embroider Pattie Otto / Great Copy Patterns Learn three special embroidery techniques while you spend the day with your embroidery machine. Pattie will take you beyond basic design to show you how to master wing needle embroidery, classic cutwork and fun bracelets from colorful zippers. Class projects include two lavender sachets done in the hoop and embellished with the wing needle, two table scarves with elegant cutwork done on the embroidery machine and two fab bracelets created from decorative zippers. Learn the art of achieving a personal fit for the A/B cup, C/D/DD cup, DDD/F/G cup or H/I cup for both woven and knit designs. Using your personal measurements and pre-sewn blouse patterns with the above cup sizes, Connie will demonstrate how to achieve a custom fit in 10 minutes and how to fit the necklines correctly, make a shoulder and armhole fit properly and match the collar to necklines. In addition, various blouse, dress, vest and jacket designs will be shown. This class starts with demonstrating the industry method of drafting and styling a custom skirt and pant sloper, giving the starting points to develop quick, easy skirt and pant designs or to copy your favorite designer.
