NA GSM 2v2 1.0 Warnings and Safety Instructions for the Installation and Commissioning of the Device 1.1 Areas of use The mains-free alarm with a GSM module is intended for use in combination with our control systems. The switching device itself must be mounted outside the ex-risk area. When using external floating switches mounted in the ex-risk area, components with the necessary approval ratings must be used. 1.2 Qualification of Personnel The personnel who fit, commission and maintain the switching device must have the relevant qualifications. 1.3 Safety tips for Users Existing regulations for prevention of accidents, from the VDE (German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) and from local energy supply companies must all be respected. 1.4 Operating Instructions When fitting, commissioning or carrying out maintenance on the switch device you must follow the operating instructions. The thresholds which they indicate must be respected at all times. 1.5 Transport and Storage The switch device must be stored and transported in such a way that it cannot be damaged by bumps, knocks or temperatures outside the range of -20 C to +60 C. 1.6 Fitting and Installation A site needs to be selected for installation which is not protected by reinforced concrete walls, steam-coated mirrors, metal shelving etc., this applies especially for the siting of the antenna. There must not be any devices which emit a strong electrical field in the vicinity of the transmitter and receiver, such as radio equipment, electric motors etc. To avoid locating it in a site where it does not work, we recommend checking the reception quality of the planned antenna location before it is fitted. This can be carried out using a simple mobile telephone. When checking, care should be taken that the same provider (network operator) is used, and using the same type of SIM card which is in use or to be used, because signal strength will vary from one operator to another. Please note: When commissioning you must make sure that the battery is charged. 2.0 General Product Description The NA GSM module is used to provide an alarm signal even when the power supply fails. There is an output available (12 V max. 1A) to run the signal transmitter. In addition the integrated GSM Module can send up to 6 different warning messages to up to 4 telephone numbers, and can also run a status query of the module. The internal 12V 1.2 Ah battery is recharged automatically. The module is suitable for use with the PS1-LCD, PS2-LCD and PS2 systems. The NA 1.2 GSM consists of two assemblies: - the power supply including the battery and the recharger, in the lower part of the housing, which is referred to in the text below as NA the GSM module which sends the SMS error messages. This component is in the lid of the housing and is referred to below as the GSM module. 3 4

NA GSM 2v2 3.0 NA1.2 Function If terminal 6/7 is closed, or if the mains power drops out, then the alarm relay in the NA 1.2 module closes, the internal buzzer sounds, and terminals 1 / 2 now have 12 Volts and terminals 3/4 are closed and trigger an SMS from the NA 1.2. You can switch off the alarm using the stop key. By reversing jumper A the internal buzzer can be deactivated (silent alarm) GSM-Module Function The module has a total of 6 digital inputs. The alarm messages are triggered by closing, or depending on the setting, by opening a terminal. A time delay can also be set for this. In addition the module has two different analogue inputs which can be used to define a threshold. If the level falls below or moves above the defined threshold then a warning message is sent. There are two relay contacts available, which can be controlled via a mobile phone. The GSM module can also send an SMS when the mains power fails. 3.1 Configuration of the GSM Module There is the option of having the GSM module factory pre-configured, this makes installation substantially simpler. For this you need to send us a SIM card with its PIN and phone number. (And also the telephone numbers the alarms should be sent to). It is not possible to swap out the SIM card without reconfiguring the GSM module. On request we can also provide the connection to the telecoms company (basic tariff Euro 0.80 per month, 17 cents per SMS). Alternatively customers can use the software and USB cable we supply to configure the GSM module themselves (more about this under point 9.0). 4.0 Function displays NA 1.2: In the casing there are three LEDs on the circuit board. green LED = Mains power is present and the battery is either being charged or is fully charged. red LED = There is an alarm on terminals 6/7 or mains power is off. yellow LED = the yellow LED lights up alongside the red one once an alarm has been sent, it goes out then the alarm is cleared GSM-Module: Green LED (GSM) = once the green POWER-LED is lit, the GSM Module becomes operational after approx. 2 minutes. 4 5

NA GSM 2v2 Yellow LED = Continuous flashing: The board is currently initialising itself On steady: The board is initialised and has connected to the network provider One short flash, then a longer pause: The modem is not replying Two short flashes, then a longer pause: The SIM card cannot be found Three short flashes: The GSM signal strength is too weak 4.1 Controls On the board there are two jumpers (A; B see illustration under 8.0). The factory setting for jumper A is up. If this is changed to down, then the internal buzzer is deactivated (silent alarm). The factory setting for jumper B is to the right. If it is switched to the right then an alarm is triggered whenever terminal 6/7 is opened. The zero voltage alarm output is implemented as a change-over contact. After the Cancel button is activated, the alarm messages are stopped. 5.0 Please Note The alarm trigger on terminal 6 / 7 must be volt free. The alarm output (12V) on terminal 1 / 2 is fused for 1A. The cable shoes on the battery must not be swapped. During transport, storage, and when inserting the SIM card, the + jack must be removed from the battery and the contact on the battery must be insulated using the sleeve provided. When commissioning, this contact needs to be restored. Commissioning must be carried out by a qualified electrician. 6.0 NA 1.2 Connections: Terminal PE / N / L1 = Mains connection Terminal 1 / 2 Alarm output 12 V/DC max. 1A (1 = Plus, 2 = Minus) Terminal 3 / 4 / 5 volt free alarm output (3 / 4 closed for alarm signal, connected to GSM module) Terminal 6 / 7 alarm input (must be wired to be volt free) Terminal +/- 13V = Power supply for module GSM Module: Terminal 10(-) / 11(+) 13V power supply Terminal 12 / 13 13V collective alarm signal Terminal 14 / 15 input 2 e.g. flood alarm Terminal 16 / 17 input 3 Terminal 18 / 19 input 4 Terminal 20 / 21 input 5 Terminal 22 / 23 input 6 Terminal 24 (-) / 25 (+) Analogue input 0-10 V (free input) Terminal 26 (-) / 27 (+) Analogue input 4-20 ma Terminal 28 / 29 relay 1 e.g. to lock the pump(s). 9 NA GSM 2v2 9.0 Preparing to Configure the GSM Module This is an autonomously functioning alarm messaging device. If incorrect settings or connections are created then it may send unwanted SMS transmissions! USB Mini B Connection Slide SIM card Power supply Digital inputs Analogue Inputs Relays Commissioning may only be carried out once the module is installed in a housing to prevent accidental contact. Prior to commissioning an assembly, there should be a general review of whether it is suitable for the intended use. If there is any doubt, then queries must be raised with professionals, experts or the manufacturer of the assembly in question. When any work is being carried out on the NA 1.2 GSM or GSM module then the device must be disconnected from any power current and the plug removed from the battery. CAUTION: Do not insert a SIM card yet! Connect the antenna supplied, using the jack socket on the base of the device. Do not yet connect the GSM module to your PC using the USB cable. If you had already connected it, disconnect it now. 8 9

NA GSM 2v2 9.1 GSM Module Software: First install the USB driver for the module and the control software from the CD provided onto the PC, and follow the installation instructions. The software starts up automatically when the CD is inserted. Should it fail to start automatically, start the programme "UM030_Parametrierungssoftware". This sequence needs to be followed in order to ensure correct configuration of a module: 1. Read instructions and install software. 2. Switch on module without SIM card 3. Use the USB cable provided to connect the module to the PC. 4. Start up the software. 5. Carry out the set-up in the software and transfer the parameters to the module. 6. Remove the USB cable. 7. Remove power from the module (Including disconnecting the battery!) 8. Insert the SIM card! 9. Reconnect power to the module. 10. The settings entered should be checked by triggering each of the functions. Please note! It takes the module approximately 2 minutes to reboot. The status LED flashes regularly during this period. 9.2 General Settings This can be used to switch the programme language between German and English. By clicking on the 'Home", "Telephone number" etc. buttons at the bottom of the window you can open up each of the entry screens. 9 10

NA GSM 2v Station Name The module can be assigned a device identity or the name of the pumping station, using up to 18 characters. The module then sends this name at the start of each SMS for identification purposes. Please note: When defining the name or the alarm messages note that you must not use any accented characters (such as é, ñ or ü) or other special characters Telephone Numbers Up to four telephone numbers can be entered. They must be entered using international format: For example: in the UK Entry: or The digits "0044" represent the international dialling code for the UK. If the device is installed in another country, then please use the correct international dialling code for that country. File Adjustments Name of station DC test Phone number You must never enter the phone number of the SIM card which is being used in the module! If you do so, then you can get the situation where the module sends itself an SMS when an event occurs. As soon as it receives this self-generated SMS, it generates a reply and so ad infinitum! SMS centre number Phone number Report text Digital inputs The number of the SMS centre number must be entered. The international format should be used for this too. On the next page you will find a table with a list of providers and numbers for SMS centres (in Germany). If your provider is not included, please contact them directly

A short delay should always be set to avoid unnecessary SMS messages being sent

NA GSM 2v Settings for "Collective Warning" Configuration Input 1 is factory preconfigured for collective warnings. Terminal 12 / 13 of the GSM module is pre-wired to terminal 3 / 4 of the mains-free alarm. This means an SMS is also sent when the mains power fails. For this, the following settings are required. For "Alarm message" No.1 Entry: Collective warning Remember - no accents. For "Digital inputs" Input 1 - Select a telephone number(s) Select Alarm message 1. If wanted, set a delay time period. Do not tick 'Reversed'. Please note that using our controls the "intermittent alarm" is not activated Settings for "High Water Level Warning" Configuration Input 2 Terminal can be used for the high water level warning. But it can also be on a different input. In which case the settings and wiring need to be changed and adjusted to suit. The wiring for this example needs to be carried out by the user themselves. An alarm message first needs to be entered here too, and the activation box checked. For "Alarm Message" No.2 Entry: High water level alarm For "Digital inputs" Input 2 - Select a telephone number(s) - Select Alarm message 2. If wanted, set a delay time period. Do not tick 'Reversed'. If the circuit is completed on a volt-free relay then the defined alarm message will be sent. If the installed PS1-LCD N, PS2-LCD or PS2 control system issues a high water level alarm, then the collective warning will also be issued at the same time, so 2 SMS will be sent. Once the alarm is triggered an SMS is sent to the telephone number(s) entered. The alarm message might look like this: "North pump station: High water level" 14 15

NA GSM 2v Relay Outputs Two relays can be switched per SMS, e.g. to lock or release a control. Relay 1: Terminal 28 / 29 opens (off). Terminal 29 / 30 closes (on). Relay 2: Terminal 31 / 32 opens (off). Terminal 32 / 33 closes (on). When a relay is switched this is displayed using the appropriate LED on the GSM module. The entry might look like this: File Adjustments Name of station DC test Edit digital outputs Switch output 1 On A1 on Switch output 1 On A1 off Switch output 1 to position On when starting Switch output 2 On A2 on Switch output 2 On A2 off Switch output 2 to position On when starting Here you can enter an alarm message of your choice to switch each of the outputs ON or OFF. The alarm message can be a maximum of 20 characters. You can also set the output to ON on startup. Phone number Report text Digital inputs Digital outputs Analogue inputs If this is ticked, then the module starts up with relays on. If the relevant relay is switched off, the module sends feedback. If e.g. relay 2 is switched on or off, feedback is given: Output 2 is ON, or Output 2 is OFF If an incorrect command is sent to the module, then you receive an error message: Station name: ERROR -> Unknown Command 15 16

This then defines the scale of the units on the slider to set the threshold for triggering the alarm. File Auswahl Adjustments Name of station DC test Analogue value Maximum value of entity Report text Adjust report barrier Phone number Hysteresis You need to check this box so that a warning is sent either when the threshold is exceeded, or when the level is too low. Please note! Never tick both boxes. Store channel Current value of entity Erase parameter Message if report barrier is undershot Message if report barrier is over overshot Phone number Report text Digital inputs Digital outputs Analogue inputs A tolerance can also be defined for the hysteresis. An alarm message can be entered which is then sent when the value defined by the slider is either exceeded or a lower value is reached. The settings must then be linked to a telephone number. More than one telephone number can be selected. Please note! Once a channel's parameterisation has been completed, it needs to be saved separately. This means that before moving on to set the parameters for the second channel, or once the entries here are complete, you must click the "Save Channel" button

NA GSM 2v Transfer Data to the Module, Data Storage This displays whether the computer is connected to a module, in our example no module is connected. File Adjustments Name of station DC test Open Save as Send to device End By clicking on the button "Send to Device" the data are sent to the module. The parameters/settings can be stored onto backup media using the "Save As..." command. The files use the extension.uem. Use the "Open" command to open stored settings Checking the Settings The settings should be checked using simple tests. A jumper, e.g. a piece of wire or cable, can be used for this. For example, to test the Collective Warning, terminal is short-circuited for a few seconds, or, if the other connections have already been set up for signalling, then short-circuit the relevant terminal in the device being monitored. (PS1-LCD N, PS2-LCD or PS2 system). Status Query By sending the command: GETDIGISTATE the module will generate an SMS with the current status of the terninals and relays: This looks as follows: Station name: I1=0, I2=0, I3=0, I4=0, I5=0, I6=0 Q1=0, Q2=0-0 = the terminal is open. - 0 = the relay has not been switched. By sending the command: GETANASTATE the module will generate an SMS with the current state of the water level or of the analogue inputs: Station name: An1=00000, An2= Analogue Inputs. If an incorrect command is sent to the module, then you will receive an error message: Station name: ERROR -> Unknown Command 17 18

NA GSM 2v Instructions for Inserting the SIM card Pull slider downwards again. Insert card into slider. Close slider again. Push upwards to lock in place Functional test during operation: File Adjustments Name of station DC test Phone number Report text Digital inputs Digital outputs Analogue inputs If the module with a SIM card is connected to the computer using the USB cable while operating, then you will see the current status of the module in this field. If a field is "green" then that terminal is closed (if it has been reversed and the terminal is open, then its field is green on start-up). Q1 and Q2 show the status of the relays, if "green" then that relay is closed. If the analogue inputs have been configured they show their current values, in the unit defined in "Analogue Inputs". (e.g. An1=00030 cmws) I1-I6 indicates the state of the digital input terminals In1 In6. LOW means that the terminal is open. Q1-Q2 indicates the state of the digital outputs or relays. LOW means that the relevant relay has not been switched. An1-An2 (1 = 0-10V and 2 = 4 20 ma) shows the current value of the analogue inputs, or of the water level. Please note! Before sending the first test SMS make sure the battery has been charged
