3 Area: 10,200 km 2 Origin: Related to the extensional forces that acted on Gondwanaland during the Mesozoic. Represented in the southern part of the western branch of a Rift Valley system located along the current Brazilian coastal region, that preceded the separation of the South American and African plates. Limits: Generalities Separated from Tucano Basin to the N and NW by the Aporá High and to the S, from the Camamu Basin by the Barra Fault. Bounded to the E by the Salvador Fault.
