1 Eric Robert Vaughn 2512 Church Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio Cellular Telephone: Website: Biography I am an artist, educator, and photographer living in Cleveland, Ohio. My art practice seeks to elicit ideas through artworks that at once utilize the means of making, the formal display, and the contemporary discourse regarding photographs, to address experiences of everyday life and the constructs of subjective knowledge. Retaining the photographic trace of observable phenomena operates as a guiding principle in my art practice through which essential tenets of the medium are both critiqued and used to demonstrate key concepts. My artworks have long been recognized for technical mastery and artistic vision. Recent works from my Fragments of the Everyday and Distant, Disrupted Visions series have received positive critical review and have been included in several group exhibitions juried by Barbara Tannenbaum, Curator of Photography for The Cleveland Museum of Art; Diane Waggoner, associate curator in the department of photographs at the National Gallery of Art, Washington; and others. Since 1998, I have taught a wide range of photography courses as an adjunct professor for six regional colleges and universities, such as Lakeland Community College, Kent State University, and Cleveland State University. I have had the opportunity to teach photography courses, both film and digitally based, including basic through advanced photography, as well as studio lighting courses, electronic imaging using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and a professional practices course for photographers. Over the course of my teaching career thus far, I have had the pleasure of watching many of my students move on to great accomplishments, and have received feedback that I contributed to their success. They have become independent commercial photographers, working artists, and several community college students have been accepted to some of the most selective undergraduate programs in the country. My professional experience producing photographs began in 1990, working in and maintaining small retail photo labs. Ever since I have made a career of photography from printing color mural photographs at custom photo labs during the mid-nineties, to managing a commercial studio during the late-nineties, to running my own independent commercial photography studio. My areas of photographic expertise run the gamut of applied photography from architectural and product photography to portraiture and analytical photography. My wide range of commercial photographic skills can be demonstrated through a sampling of my clientele: The Lincoln Electric Company, producing product and corporate photography; the United States General Service Administration, photographing architectural interiors and exteriors of federal buildings and documenting fine art holdings; The Lubrizol Corporation, producing analytical photographs of test engine parts in support of research and development. Born in Mississippi, raised in Northeast Ohio, I received an Associate of Arts from Lakeland Community College, a BA in Humanities from Ursuline College, and a MFA in Studio Arts from the Maine College of Art. I live and work in Cleveland, Ohio. My passion for photography is matched only by my passion for rigorous thought translated into art.
