1 EXPERIENCE WITH GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) / MAPPING TEC has performed many GPS/GIS inventory projects and studies for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Counties, and municipalities. As a result, our professional engineers and field technicians are highly experienced with this type of data collection and analysis, as well as database development using Microsoft Access, GIS integration utilizing ArcGIS 9, and training of government personnel in managing an asset inventory database. Similarly, our staff is very familiar with the requirements, policies and procedures outlined by the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), AASHTO, FHWA, and ODOT s Location and Design Manual, and can ensure that your project is completed in compliance with all applicable standards and signed and sealed by a registered Professional Engineer. Relevant Project Experience: Clermont County Engineer s Office, Ohio CEAO COUNTYWIDE INVENTORY AND SAFETY STUDY PROGRAM TEC completed a countywide inventory, inspection and study program on approximately 384 miles of Clermont County roads. The studies that were performed as part of this program are described below: Roadside Hazard Inventory Study: This study located objects near the roadway that may present a potential hazard for cars that leave the road surface. These hazards may include pavement drop-offs, utility poles, large trees, steep drop-offs, or any number of other situations. Guardrail Location Inventory and Inspection Study: This inventory will allow the Clermont County Engineer s Office to better maintain existing guardrails, as well as provide information on guardrails that may need repair.

2 Sign Inventory and Compliance: This study provides detailed information for all sign locations, as well as information regarding the condition of the signs. Ball Bank (Curve Safe Speed) Study: This study evaluates the curves on the County roadway system and determines whether the curve warrants a sign that warns the motorist of a safe speed. Pavement Marking Inventory Study: This study provides information for all of the pavement markings on the County roadway system. This information will allow the County to better manage the maintenance of their roadway system. No Passing Zone Study: This study evaluates the double-yellow lines on the County roadway system and determines where it is warranted to break these lines to allow for motorists to safely pass. All data collected as part of these studies was incorporated into a database and integrated into the County s GIS system.

3 Warren County Engineer s Office, Ohio CEAO SAFETY STUDIES, CR 7 AND CR 37 TEC Engineering assisted Warren County in obtaining a County Engineers Association grant to perform two (2) corridor safety studies of high risk rural roads, County Road 7 and County Road 37. TEC s work involved several miles of rural 2-lane corridor analysis, geometric review of numerous intersections in the study area, crash analysis, data collection, pavement marking evaluation, sight distance studies, and identification of deficient horizontal and vertical alignment segments for the posted speeds. Final reports were provided to Warren County, in accordance with ODOT Safety Study guidelines, citing short and long-term recommendations for various safety-related improvements to these corridors. The County has, or in the in the process of, implementing the short-term study recommendations. Ohio Department of Transportation SIGNAL INVENTORY & INSPECTION TEC Engineering performed a statewide signal inventory of more than 1,500 ODOT-maintained traffic signals for ODOT Central Office. Each signal was evaluated and added to an inventory database for future maintenance purposes. TEC compiled such information as signal phasing, photos of controller cabinets and intersection approaches, all relevant controller cabinet information, and the number and type of signals at each location. Ohio Department of Transportation STATEWIDE SAFETY STUDY TASK ORDER 24-month contract with ODOT to perform various safety-related task orders and studies across the State. TEC currently has active task orders in Districts 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10. Regular tasks include inventories of signal equipment, signs, and pavement markings as it relates to performing safety studies and traffic signal timing projects.

5 OKI Regional Council of Governments REGIONAL TRAFFIC VOLUME DATA COLLECTION PROGRAM, 2005 & 2006 In 2005 and again in 2006, TEC Engineering completed regional traffic data collection programs for the 8-county OKI region of Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana. For each program TEC performed manual traffic counts at more than 1,000 locations, including freeways (I-75, I-71, I-275) and non-freeways (state routes and local and rural arterials and collectors). TEC used GPS data collectors to obtain the latitude/longitude of every count location. A technical report was prepared for each count detailing a listing and description of count locations, raw daily counts (unadjusted/unformatted counter data), vehicle classification summary, and final ADT s. Because of the tight, 4-month schedule for each contract, TEC technicians worked 12-hour days, and some nights, to accomplish the large volume of counts. Both projects were accomplished within the schedule and budget. The traffic volume data information collected by TEC has helped OKI develop and update their regional traffic model. *GOVERNOR S HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE (GHSO) SIGN INVENTORIES VARIOUS: TEC assisted many communities in acquiring GHSO grants to complete sign inventories and database management programs. TEC was responsible for planning, project scheduling and overseeing the data collection process and verifying data returned by field technicians. Technicians used GPS devices to obtain the coordinates of every sign location. Upon completion of the field work, TEC implemented a custom Microsoft Access-based asset management inventory program to store and maintain the collected data and trained selected City personnel on the use of the software.
