1 Master s Degree Program in Industrial Engineering (Revision version, 2004) 1) Academic Program Master s Degree Program in Industrial Engineering 2) Degree Offered Master of Engineering (Industrial Engineering) or M.Eng.(Industrial Engineering) 3) Organized by Industrial Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University 4) Objectives The Master's Degree Program in Industrial Engineering is aimed at providing graduate level of education to engineers in order to enhance their professional and research capabilities. The Program actively emphasizes on developing technical and management expertise together with research skills so that graduates are able to serve effectively in the industrial sector and contribute to the development of higher level of technology 5) Admission schedule From year ) Admission An applicant to the program must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science or Technology from an accredited institution and cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. In case that cumulative GPA of applicant is less than 2.5, it should be determined by academic program committee. 7) Method of Selection Paper test and/or interview according to regulations of Faculty of Engineering and Thammasat University. 8) Academic System 8.1) The Master's Degree Program in Industrial Engineering are a semester day time program (Thesis plan) and a semester evening program (Thesis plan) with two semesters system 8.2) The curriculum consists of 39 credits for both plans, with 15 credits of 5 compulsory courses, 12 credits of 4 elective courses, and 12 credits of thesis. The elective courses can be chosen from the three groups: engineering management, manufacturing systems, and operations research. 8.3) Graduate students who do not possess Industrial Engineering background are required to register for at least one of four additional basic courses: IE 501, IE 502, IE 503, and IE 504, which are not counted as credits toward graduation. The grades to be given for these courses are P (satisfactory) and N (Unsatisfactory). The total number of additional courses required will be decided by the Departmental Committee. 8.4) To sit for the comprehensive examination, the students must have completed a minimum of 18 credits, with cumulative GPA of at least The comprehensive examination will be offered twice a year with P (satisfactory) and N (Unsatisfactory) grade. 8.5) To register for the Master's thesis, students must have completed a minimum of 18 credits, with cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, and must obtain a 'P' grade in the comprehensive examination. 8.6) To sit for the Master's thesis examination, students must pass an English test with a 'P' grade as required by Thammasat University's Regulation for graduate students (1996).
