It s all about the management of the shared resources Windows workgroup (peer to peer) All computers are equal in the sharing of resources Usually fewer than 10 computers networked together Each computer controls own resources Inexpensive and relatively easy All current OSs can be setup in a peer to peer Windows 7 and 8 have a Homegroup version of a workgroup Slide 26

Windows domain (client / server) The sharing of resources is managed centrally on a master computer = Server Usually more than 10 computers More expensive Server versions of the OS A much higher level of technical support is required for a Windows domain environment Slide 27
